#1 – Arapaho Park
Address: 7800 S Adams St, Centennial, CO 80122
Starting off with one of the best playgrounds in Centennial, Arapaho Park will take your breath away! Tucked into a quiet neighborhood, you would never know this giant structure is just around the corner. We love Arapaho Park because you have the thrill of tall slides for the older kids, a fantastic area with a playhouse and play structure for younger ages, and SHADE! #2 – Centennial Center Park
Address: 13050 E Peakview Ave, Centennial, CO 80111
If you’re looking for the largest play area in Centennial, let me introduce you to Centennial Center Park! This is a hit year round, but especially during the summer with this amazing splash pad. I love that Colorado trivia is spread throughout the park with everything from the state bird to state gemstone to a view of a “fourteener”. There is so much to do here at Centennial Center Park, however, that also means that it is well known and becomes very crowded. My advice is to arrive before the splash pad turns on, plan on playing alongside your little ones so they can’t wander, and to have a specific meeting location for older kids. #3 – Cherry Knolls Park
Address: 7077 S Elizabeth St, Centennial, CO 80122
This playground is a bit older than the first two but well loved by the community. On the day we visited, there were soccer camps going on, families riding by on bikes, adults working in the pavilion and picnics under the shade trees. Cherry Knolls Park has two structures, one with ramp access, and I would recommend for ages 8 and younger. It also has a bathroom building (yay!), tire swing and an animal tracks scavenger hunt.
Don’t forget to take along some of our park favorites!
#4 – deKoevend Park
Address: 6301 S University Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121
When I started asking for recommendations for playgrounds in Centennial, I was sent deKoevend Park multiple times. I’m guessing that if you live in the area, you already know about it, but just in case, this is a great spot to meet friends. The play equipment is dated with a dedication plaque from 1995, however, there is such a variety that kids will have a great time! The small playhouse will bring out their imagination, the large rock will inspire the climbers and the ladybug and grasshopper bouncers bring color and laughter. The larger play structure has ramp access and there are musical instruments along the path helping kids of all abilities have something to play. With the large trees and equipment for all ages, this is a great spot to meet friends for a shaded picnic!
#5 – Foxridge Park
Address: 7900 S Oneida Way, Centennial, CO 80112
One of the most recently updated playgrounds in Centennial can be found at Foxridge Park! The equipment here has a clubhouse feel (complete with “Kids Only” sign) and is mostly designed for ages 5 to 12. There are some more thrilling elements (maybe more for me than the kids 😉 ) so your assistance might be needed at some point if they get stuck on a high bar or somewhere they’re afraid to climb down from. Some fun features everyone liked were the unique monkey bars, rope obstacle (shown below), and the log steps.
#6 – Hunters Hill Park
Address: 7275 S Xanthia St, Centennial, CO 80112
You will be pleasantly surprised when you pull up to the playground at Hunters Hill Park. Just like Foxridge Park, the structures all have that clubhouse-style with “Kids Only” and “Club Awesome” signs throughout. I enjoy the natural feel from the log steps to the tree trunk ladder to the stone wall. My older daughters love the thick rope to balance across, the wood plank bridge and the steep slide. The younger kids like the smaller play structure and seesaw!
Don’t forget to take along some of our park favorites!
#7 – Linksview Park
Address: 4200 E Links Pkwy, Centennial, CO 80122
If you’re looking for a peaceful spot, Linksview Park was wonderful. Your kids will love the bouncing bridges, rope climbing wall, monkey bars and high/low single bars. There are also two bouncers (a bulldozer and horse), low slides and a digger in the wood chips for the younger ages. Take along your favorite sports equipment as the large grass field area is great for soccer, baseball, frisbee and nearby is the South Suburban Golf Course.
#8 – Milliken Park
Address: 6445 South Clarkson Street, Centennial, CO 80121
A unique stop along the High Line Canal is the marine-themed Milliken Park. I grew up loving seahorses so I think this small park is adorable! Playground features include swings (2 traditional, 1 baby and 1 chair), spinning monkey bars, and the play structures both look like the front of a ship. Additional benefits are the close parking lot, bathroom building and fields for soccer and baseball.
#9 – Willow Creek Park
Address: 8000 E Phillips Cir, Centennial, CO 80112
How about a family walk with a stop at the park? A great spot for both is Willow Creek Park! The playground has high monkey bars, a variety of slides and would be perfect for a game of tag. The favorite feature for my kids is a large cone-shaped rope spinner and the bug that welcomes you to the park. Before, or maybe after you play, you can take a stroll along the Willow Creek trail and enjoy the peaceful scenery.
#10 – New Playground Coming Soon at Foxhill Park!
Project Description: “The Foxhill Park Improvements Project will include two new playground areas with safety surfacing. Each area will include new playground equipment for ages 2-5 and 5-12, respectively. New basketball hoops will also be installed. Additionally, a new pavilion with picnic tables and updated lighting will be constructed. Finally, ADA accessibility to the park will be improved and updated, along with new concrete pathways.”
Thanks for joining us at Slides & Sunshine. Now it’s time to get out there and PLAY!
