Snow Cones, Splash Pad and Fun in Northglenn!

Just off of I-25 and 120th, you’ll find E.B. Rains Jr Memorial Park. The playground is large with areas for toddlers and big kids, a sand pit and a lot of room for hanging out. We’ve been to this park a couple times now and, unfortunately, every time it has been pretty crowded (it’s a popular spot for summer camp groups). My advice is to choose a central spot to leave your snacks & drinks and then keep a close eye on your kiddos.

Anyone that listens to me talk about parks knows that I’ll always be on the lookout for restrooms. How that isn’t a requirement for all large playgrounds, I have no idea. Luckily, this is a park with a large bathroom building, with flushing toilets!

Address: 11701 Community Center Dr, Northglenn, CO 80233

Recommended Ages: There is something for everyone here, even the adults! The toddlers have a separate structure (sadly the canopy that used to cover it hasn’t been up for years) with a sandbox area. There is also an open playground area with some musical instruments, merry go round and horizontal rope ladder. For the older kids, there is a large structure with many monkey bar options and, on the far side of the park, you’ll find a large rock to climb.

Unique Features: Besides the playground equipment, there is a splash pad area. Make sure you pack a towel or have swimsuits on though, it took forever to dry out their denim shorts! There is also a skate park and basketball courts nearby.

The kids weren’t nearly as excited as I was about this, but the area surrounding the playground was gorgeous! There is a beautiful lake that you can walk around, and you can even rent pedal boats and kayaks during specific hours.

The lake provided some peaceful moments after running around the playground. You can see local art sculptures along the way and we even saw a family of baby ducks!

Fun fact (and my daughters’ favorite part)…there’s a snack cart every day during the summer! With everything from hot dogs to snow cones to candy and snacks, it’s hard to pass up that kind of convenience. The gentleman that runs the cart was very nice and we were happy to support him!

This is a great park to see, my only hesitation is the number of people usually there. We’ve never had issues with anyone, it can just be difficult to keep track of your littles at such a large park.

What would you choose from the snack cart?

Thank you for your comment Linda! I agree, there aren’t enough shady parks. I will add the tag “shade” to the parks with good shade for future reference and would highly recommend Maple Grove park in Golden that I posted about on July 5th. Hope that helps!
