Enjoy Nature at these 3 Unique Boulder County Playgrounds!

Colorado is full of unique places to play indoors and out with your family! One area that stands out with a more natural-feel is Boulder County. There are parks with huge trees overhead and streams nearby, there are logs to climb and ropes to swing on, and parks where you can take risks and test your abilities. Check out these three unique Boulder County Playgrounds and visit one this summer!

#1 Boulder Library Playground

Address: 1001 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO 80302

The Creekside Playground at the Boulder Library is wonderful with a natural feel. There are logs to climb around, a treehouse-like play structure and a hillside slide. During the summer, there is water play, sand play and so many great spots for a picnic!

Getting cold or looking to add more to your time in Boulder? Inside the Boulder Library, there are reading nooks, a children’s book area and fantastic storytime location. They offer Baby Storytime, Musical Storytime, All Ages Storytime and even STEAM Storytime where they read books, sing songs, and explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) concepts and activities. #2 Elks Park

Address: 3995 28th St, Boulder, CO 80301

I love the playground at Elks Park in Boulder, Colorado! It is tucked in just north of the Boulder Elks Lodge (3975 28th St, Boulder, CO 80301) and if you’re coming by car, that is a great spot to park.

Almost everything has a nature theme, the tree-like poles holding the swings to the rocks to climb to the hollow log slide. The only non-natural element to Elks Park was the long zipline. There is rubber surfacing throughout and, during my visit, a few kids were biking around the boulders and stumps.

Possibly the best features at Elks Park are the surrounding trees, trails and creek! If you want your child to experience all that “nature play” has to offer, this is a perfect spot! I loved seeing parents with their kids exploring the area, tossing rocks into the creek and taking walks together. It was a delightful find in North Boulder!

#3 Melody Park

Address: 16th St & Kingwood Pl, Boulder, CO 80304

What an amazing find Melody Park was! A rare neighborhood playground with rubber surfacing, variety of equipment and open field, we had a hard time leaving. While this was the most “plastic” of the three playgrounds, it still had a natural feel with its colors and surrounding trees. A great spot for kids of all ages to play – bring along a picnic lunch!
