Namaqua Park in Loveland is a Pond-Themed Gem!

Our visit to Namaqua Park in Loveland, Colorado was brief but enjoyable. It was a peaceful location on the west side of town next to the Big Thompson river. I could definitely see us coming back on a warmer day or when we might be able to spot some of the elk that pass through (evidenced by the elk droppings throughout the playground)!

Namaqua Park Logistics

Address: 730 N Namaqua Ave, Loveland, CO 80537

Shade: Namaqua Park is surrounded by huge trees which will give great shade during the summer. There is also a large pavilion for gathering and trees along the neighboring Big Thompson River.

Bathroom: There is a portable bathroom available near the parking lot.

Age Recommendations: Aside from the monkey bars, the majority of the playground is designed for ages 2 to 6.

Unique Features Of Loveland’s Namaqua Park

The pond theme ran throughout the play area from the tall cattails to the bouncing fish and frogs. The colors fit the location and everything flowed together nicely. In addition to the theme, the playground included auditory (such as the musical flowers) and sensory features.

Surrounding Area Highlights

According to the plaque erected in 1931, Namaqua was the “First settlement in the Big Thompson Valley, station on Overland Stage route to California in 1862.” Such an interesting part of the history of Loveland!

A nearby playground, Dwayne Webster Veterans Park, was also completely redone in 2019. The playground is worth the stop with its new equipment and gorgeous view of Lake Loveland!
