Gather with Friends at Niwot Children’s Park!

If you’re looking for a park with nice shade and fun for all ages, here you go! Niwot Children’s Park is wonderful – we make sure to go every year!

Address: 101-199 1st Ave, Niwot, CO 80503

This park has a bathroom building, covered tables and a drinking fountain!

Tall slide only accessible by rock climbing!

Age Recommendations: My thought, ages 3 and up. There are no baby swings and the park is made with wood chips so not ideal for crawling ages. Beyond that, there are play structures for young and older kids and a few options shown below that we haven’t seen at any other park before!

Unique Features: The zipline is what the girls run to first but what we found is that if it has been sitting unused in the sun for a while, the disc is too hot to sit on! If it’s in constant use, it is fine so just a heads up if you’re the first ones there. Also unique, the woolly mammoth in the middle of the playgound!

This “Eclipse Net Climber” from Landscape Structures was a hit!

And then there were TWO activities in the park that I hadn’t ever heard of (my oldest had to fill me in)! Along the west side of the playgound is a sign highlighting a perfect spot for your Slackline and the middle of the park has a Gaga Dodgeball ring. Have you ever used a slackline before? Gaga dodgeball?? I sure haven’t but after looking them up, I may have to try them sometime! If you truly want to experience this park, here’s what you need before you go: Macaco Slackline Complete Set and Gaga Playground balls.

A few other additions caught our eye this trip… Superheroes! The entrance to the park has Superman keeping the park trash free (the only trash can I found was inside the bathroom so they really do want you to take out everything you bring in!), Underdog asks that you keep dogs on leash and out of the wood chips, and lastly Batman and Wonder Woman mark the bathrooms! It was a cute way to make it even more kid friendly.

Pictures of the town baseball team of the 1920s and 1930s can be found in the park shelter along with donor recognition. A small bit of history made the park even more special.

Have you been to Niwot? It’s nestled between Boulder and Longmont and this is the perfect park to make a stop! Comment below with any questions or, if you’ve already been here, what’s your favorite part?

  • Wow! This park looks awesome and my granddaughters would love it! Unfortunately, we live in Omaha, Nebraska. I believe you said it is in Colorado, correct? I guess that could be a fun road trip with all of us! Thanks for the great information...the pictures are beautiful too!

    • Thank you so much Dawn! Yes, this park is in Colorado but I'd love to see parks all over the country! Do you have a favorite in Omaha?

  • My kids would love the zipline and the gaga ball pit. Our elementary school got a gaga pit this year and the kids went wild for it. I think it's a great game and so glad to see they are now incorporating space for it in playgrounds.

  • Thanks for the recommendation! We went to this park on one of the hottest days of the summer because it has so much shade! The kids loved the climbing features, and the zipline. I loved it because I could stay in the shade :-)
