No Fear of Heights Allowed at this Fort Collins Park!

I have to admit, this Fort Collins park caused me some confusion… I read about the brand new playground at Crescent Park on the City of Fort Collins page, but then I couldn’t find it by name on any map! Apparently, this neighborhood park is also called Maple Hill Park in some locations (like the Google Map below). Regardless of the name confusion, Crescent Park was an exciting find for our family! Northmoor Sensory Playground (and a bonus playground too!)

You may read this title and think “What makes a playground a sensory playground?” Or, maybe your child needs a sensory playground and you’ve been searching for more options. This was a new term for me a few years ago, here’s what I found… A sensory playground provides a solution for children on the spectrum.  Specifically designed to meet their needs, a sensory playground offers ASD children the type of sensory input they’re most comfortable with, while fostering enhanced motor skills, balance and coordination. Fun Factory Sensory Gym There are many aspects that make up a sensory playground, including more space between equipment, areas/panels for individual play, and a focus…

The Best Park in Fort Lupton!

“Are you sure you want to bring along those roller skates?” “Yes! We HAVE to!” Who would’ve expected that my daughter’s insistence to bring skates would lead us to the best park in Fort Lupton?! Until a week ago, this wouldn’t have even been a thought. Thanks to some nice neighbors though, we have found ourselves the new owners of roller skates. Watching them attempt to learn on our sidewalk and street has been terrifying to me so when I heard about the open playground & skate park at Community Center Park, I gave in and we brought them along! Kanemoto, One of the Best Parks in Longmont!

Near the southern edge of Longmont, just north of Prospect, you will find a new favorite place, Kanemoto Park. Not only is the playground fun (and next to a perfect summer pool for little ones), it comes with a bit of town history as well. In 1966, the land where the park currently sits was donated to the City of Longmont by the Kanemoto family. The seven-acre park was named after the patriarch Goroku Kanemoto (1882-1935) who immigrated from Japan in 1910. According to the Longmont Observer, the sons of Kanemoto, Jimmie and George, commissioned the Tower of Compassion (explained in detail below) in 1972 as a symbol of gratitude…
