Dinosaur Thrills at Trail Winds’ Indoor Playground!

Have you been to the new indoor playground at Thornton’s Trail Winds Rec Center? It will be your dinosaur-loving child’s new favorite place to go! The play area is completely true to its theme AND it’s FREE!

Based on REAL dinosaur bones found in Colorado!

What makes this playground even more amazing is that it resembles the real dinosaur fossils uncovered in Thornton just a few years ago. In 2017, scientists discovered that the bones found were the remains of “Tiny”, a Torosaurus (similar to a Triceratops). Not only will your children enjoy the playground, you both can learn more about local history and dinosaurs as well!

“This dinosaur has been laying here for at least 66-million years,” said Sertich. “I’m over the moon right now about this dinosaur fossil.”

Trail Winds Indoor Playground Logistics

This playground is open for public use when the Child Care center is not in operation. As of the writing of this review, the hours of the playground shown on the door are Monday-Thursday: 5-8:45 a.m. / 1:15-4 p.m. Friday: 5-8:45 a.m. / 1:15-10 p.m. Saturday: 12-6 p.m. Sunday: 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Age Recommendations: This playground will be enjoyed by preschoolers through early elementary years, approximately ages 3 to 8. Most of the activities require climbing so the very young, or those unable to climb, will likely only be able to go on the small slide.

• If you’re looking for something better suited for your little ones, we recommend checking out the Cherry Creek Mall. They have a wonderful dinosaur play area designed for the crawlers and toddlers.
  

Trail Winds Playground Unique Features

This play area was designed and executed with all things dinosaur in mind. There is a “Dino Digger” (think stationary pogo stick), large Torosaurus bones with rope bridge for the stomach and pterodactyls flying on the side. My daughter loves climbing into the globe lookout near the fossil head and then racing down the spiral slide.

The “upstairs” of the play structure is true to theme as well, and I have first knowledge from being convinced to “follow me, Mom!” 😉 There are dinosaur teeth to climb over, rocky ramps and more obstacles throughout.
