Best Themed Playgrounds in Colorado (part 2)!
Can you believe all of these playgrounds are in Colorado? Our family loves a good playground but there is something extra special about those with a theme. Keep reading to see five more fantastic parks to add to your list!
5 – Village East Park (Ninja Warrior Theme)
Are your children fascinated by shows like American Ninja Warrior? If so, or if they just love a good obstacle course, they will be blown away by Village East Park in Windsor. The section shown above has equipment like we hadn’t seen anywhere else! Ninja steps, floating boards and rope obstacles kept the girls busy and very happily challenged. And, this doesn’t even show the unique play structure, large rope pyramid, and nature play area!

4 – Ralston Valley Park (Space/Moon Theme)
This new space-themed playground at Ralston Valley Park in Arvada is quite the sight. It is crazy to think that this is the park I used to ride my bike to as a kid – what a difference! The moon rover toddler play will keep your littles entertained while your adventurous older kids tackle the giant play structure. This is definitely a ‘must visit’ playground for your future astronauts!

3 – Chaucer Park (Medieval Theme)
Chaucer Park playground in Littleton takes “themed playground” to a whole new level! The castle play structure has dragon-faced slides, high tower and climbable stone walls. There is a ship play structure designed for younger ages with cannons, treasure map and steering wheel. Best of all, there is not one but TWO treasure hunts!

2 – McKay Nature Play Area (Nature Theme)
Nature inspired playgrounds are popping up everywhere and McKay Lake Park is at the top of the list! This Broomfield gem has everything from log and rope obstacles to tunnels and dirt hills. You can walk along the fitness loop or bring bikes for the beginner and advanced bike parks! Whatever you choose, you will have a great time enjoying the natural elements (just don’t forget your sunscreen!)

1 – Aven’s Village (“Old West” Theme)
When you arrive at Aven’s Village at Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley, all you’ll be able to say is “WOW!” Beautifully done, the “Old West” theme runs throughout with touches of farming, cowboys, western fort and rustic storefronts. This all-inclusive playground is designed to give every age and ability a chance to play. You’ll find wheelchair accessible ramps, sensory play features and musical elements, something for everyone. The playground is about four times as big as the picture above and there’s a splash pad nearby too! Be prepared though, if you go, your children will never want to leave! 😉
