Exciting Updates at Canterbury Park in Aurora!

Many updates took place at Canterbury Park in Aurora in 2022 and we’re excited to share them with you! The play area is more accessible, a new walking path was added and clubhouse-themed equipment was built for all ages to enjoy. Meet friends for a picnic under the new shade panels and a ride on the “friendship swing”!

Bathroom: No restroom available at the park. The closest option would be the nearby Target, which backs up to the park.

Shade: There are a couple of large shade covers on the hillside and large trees nearby. Most of the play equipment is unshaded.

Surface: Rubber surfacing and turf cover the play areas.

The turf-covered hillside near the playground has a rope ladder, slide and rocky steps. There are also new shade covers and picnic tables!

Age Recommendations: Canterbury Park in Aurora has equipment for ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12, making it a great stop for the whole family. The younger kids have a separate play structure with rocks to climb, a slide and it’s adorned with “Kids Only” above.

Inclusive Features: Prior to the updates, Canterbury Park did not have walkways through the playground, now there are walkways as well as the more accessible rubber surfacing throughout. There is a music panel with bells available on the larger play structure for sensory play.

Swings: There are two unique swing options – a disc-shaped swing able to hold a few kids and a “Friendship Swing”!

Unique Features of Canterbury Park

The playground at Canterbury Park in Aurora has many unique features that your kids will love! In addition to the multi-person swings above, there is also this spinning sphere to enjoy with friends. With two heights, and ways to ride inside or out, this brings a whole new level to traditional spinners.

There are two play structures, one for ages 2 to 5 and another for 5 to 12. Both structures have a clubhouse feel with “Kids Only” signs and many activities throughout. The larger structure has straight monkey bars, various types of ladders, slides, a bridge across and floating steps.

Another great playground isn’t too far away…McMullen Park in Aurora! With its rubber surface, sensory panels and accessible merry go round, this is a wonderful inclusive playground!


Surrounding Area Highlights

Adjacent to the playground at Canterbury Park in Aurora is a large grass field surrounded by a 0.3-mile walking loop. The location is right by E Mississippi Ave and S Havana St so there are many places to eat or shop nearby. You can pick up lunch for a picnic or a Starbucks on the way!
