Globeville Landing Park has been on my list for a while as a Denver playground that I must visit. Time and time again, I was tagged in a picture or sent a link and this past weekend, I was finally able to go! We usually visit playgrounds pretty quickly so that we can visit more than one in an area, but this time the kids just kept asking to “stay a little longer”. There was something for everyone at Globeville Landing, from a separate toddler area to a big kid obstacle structure to a natural-themed play area.
To make our visit even better, we tried out Vroom, a FREE app for parents with simple brain building activities families can do on the go, or at the park. You enter the ages of each child to view tips targeted to their stage of development. One of the activities we tried was “Still as a Statue” (shown below). It was the best playground visit we’ve had in a long time!
This Denver playground review is sponsored by our friends at Parent Possible. This Denver based non-profit oversees home visiting and parent engagement programs to ensure Colorado parents have the tools, resources, confidence and support to reach their potential. Parent Possible works with trusted messengers statewide to raise awareness of Vroom’s resources, including the free Vroom App with over 1,000 fun and easy activities that help prepare children for friends, school, and life.
Address: 3901 Arkins Ct, Denver, CO 80216
Bathroom: Unfortunately no, so plan ahead 😉
Shade: There are a couple pavilions for covered seating, but no shade over the playground features.
Surface: Globeville Landing Park has a great mix of wood chips, rubber surfacing and a large sand area too!
Age Recommendations: All! There are separate play areas for ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12 with appropriate features for each. There are additional areas for all ages, including the log structure, balance beam, and sand play area.
Swings: There are two baby swings and a very unique rope swing for three (see picture in Unique Features section)! There are no traditional belt swings or accessible chair swings.
Water Features: Kids will love this Denver playground during the summer because it has running water for the sand area!
We had so much fun using the Vroom App while we played! It was interesting to have the kids predict what we’d find at the playground and they were pleasantly surprised by the unique features of Globeville Landing Park!
Where do I start?! The girls were still talking about the thick rope swing built for three as we drove away – they loved it! There was also a unique tight rope and a custom slide built into the wall to reflect the “outfall” where the stormwater enters the South Platte River.
We have been to a lot of playgrounds and this was the first time we had seen something like the 5 to 12 play structure! It was very unique with its rope nets, high bar, rubber hammock and climbing options. We named it the “All-in-one Obstacle Course”!
The natural features at Denver’s Globeville Landing Park were also a hit for our group. The large log structure from Bienenstock was so much fun to climb over and through (see post’s header image for the full picture). There was also a large sand area with two diggers and a water feature for the summer season.
If your kiddo loves trains, this would be a great spot to play! While we were there, we saw both the light rail and a long train go by. There are long walking/bike paths along the South Platte River making this a wonderful stop on your family’s day out!
