“Hi! I’m Leslie, Leslie Knope from the Parks Department.”
I think that’s where it truly began… A television character inspired me and I began to embrace a love of all things Parks and Recreation.
More specifically though, four years ago I was about to spend my first summer as a work from home mom with three girls ages 7, 4 and 8 months. I was CLUELESS on how to spend all that time out of school without spending a fortune finding fun activities! Then inspiration hit and, in true Leslie Knope fashion, we came up with our #parktour, a mission to find the coolest playgrounds in the area!
The girls and I spent our time traveling from one amazing park in the area to the next and used it as a way to meet up with friends and family (without anyone having to host a crowd at their house!). It was perfect! My oldest two loved the variety of places to play, their imaginations grew and I got to enjoy some adult conversation!
I started sharing our favorite parks casually on social media and it has now grown from a hobby to our passion. I love helping parents, grandparents, nannies, etc find amazing places to entertain the kids – it’s such a fun and inexpensive way to play!
We are always looking for the next adventure so if we haven’t been to your favorite place, leave us a comment or send us a quick email. We’d love to hear from you!
