Address: 23701 E Hinsdale Way, Aurora, CO 80016
Bathroom: Yes. There is a bathroom building near the parking lot.
Shade: Not much. As you’ll see from the pictures below, there are a few large umbrella shades, but overall, most of the play equipment is uncovered. Tip: Get there early to claim your spot under one of the pavilions near the splash pad!
Have you seen the brand new playground at Hampden Run Park?! No fear of heights allowed 😉
#1 It’s Inclusive!
In 2019, Colorado celebrated the opening of this 8,000 square foot inclusive playground in Aurora. Inspired by a local child, Red-tailed Hawk Park is “a purposeful playground with equipment, instruments and experiences every child can enjoy” (CBS Denver). You will immediately notice the fun colors, spread out equipment and unique elements, like the wheelchair only swing!
Your child will enjoy all of the musical pieces, from the xylophones to digital panels…even the entrance plays music from “Ashaun’s Harmonious Harp” as you walk through!

Many other delightful elements make up the inclusive play area. I couldn’t get the kids to come off of the merry go round (with room for sitting, standing, and wheelchairs) or ziplines!
Along with the wheelchair accessible swing, you will find a disc swing and two chair options. If you’re looking for traditional swings, keep reading to see what else is offered here!
#2 It has a Splash Park!
The splash pad at Red-tailed Hawk playground is definitely one to visit during the summer! It draws a huge crowd though so my advice is to check the hours before you go and get your spot before the water turns on. Don’t forget your towels and our family’s favorite sunscreen!
#3 It has a Hidden Playground!
Thankfully another mom at the inclusive playground told us that another play area was just a short walk away or we would’ve missed it! By following the parking lot to the northwest, we found an additional area and this more traditional playground…
There is very little shade outside of the picnic table pavilion, however there is equipment for most ages to enjoy. The rubber surfacing has a red-tailed hawk, otter, leaves and more and there are play structures both for toddlers and more experienced kiddos.
Our favorite features were the climbing wall, monkey bar circles and wavy bridge. There are also two baby swings and two traditional swings.
Surrounding Area Highlights
Red-tailed Hawk Park is not just about playgrounds, it is about recreation for all! Bring along your bocce ball set, volleyball, horseshoes, even your baseball equipment for an all around fun family day.
