Denver’s City Park Playground Grand Re-Opening!

Today marks the grand re-opening of the Dustin Redd Playground at Denver’s City Park! The beloved castle theme runs through with custom equipment, complete with a tall castle tower and large climbable dragon. It has a different feel from the previous playground style, however, I think the kids will love the updates! There are also many additions adding to the inclusiveness and overall accessibility of the playground creating a safe space for all ages and abilities.

For information about the reasons for the playground replacement, you can visit the Park Facility Projects page at denvergov.org. Thank you Rocky Mountain Recreation for the sneak peek!

Unique Features

The playground at City Park has many custom and unique features. One of the most eye-catching is the custom built dragon by Earthscape Play. Everything about it is “playable” with climbing holds across its back, rope nets inside and tunnels throughout!

The “Village Towers” play structure is also a custom built piece to tie together the castle theme and overall look of the previous beloved Dustin Redd playground at City Park. If you visited the old playground, you’ll remember the iconic purple castle tops.

Completing the list of my favorite parts about the new playground are the castle tower/slide and the We Go Round! The castle has a wheelchair transfer at the entrance and a spiraling rubber surface to reach the slide. The We Go Round provides wheelchair access as well as seats, making it a wonderful, inclusive place for kids of all abilities to play together!
