Robinson Park, Perfect for Summer AND Winter!
The recently redone playground at Robinson Park is wonderful and there are many amenities that make the park great for summer and winter! During the summer, you can play on the equipment, enjoy a game of basketball, or picnic on the large grass lawn. In the winter, take along your sled and enjoy the sledding hill! Not to mention, playing on a playground in your snow gear is so much fun!

Bathroom: Yes, there is a restroom building, however, it is only open seasonally during the summer.
Shade: Yes! While some of the play equipment is uncovered, there are huge trees in the surrounding area, as well as a covered pavilion, for relaxing in the shade.
Surface: Combination of wood chips, turf and rubber surfacing. There is also a separate sand play area.
Age Recommendations: There is equipment for ages 2 to 12 at Robinson Park. A note to parents of little ones: the structure shown above is accessible by ladders and the ramp but the options to get down are complicated and I recommend keeping a close eye if they make it up there. The younger kids have a separate play structure and will love the swings, merry go round and hill side slide.
*The monkey bars are quite high and angled so only my teen was able to go across without some help.
At Little Kitchen Academy, students learn how to make healthy, delicious, and seasonal meals from scratch to consumption—all while experimenting with math and science concepts, working on their reading skills, and polishing up their table manners by sharing meals around the LKA community table. Sessions are limited to just 10 students and are overseen by three instructors.
Robinson Park Features
Swings: You will find 1 baby swing, 1 traditional swing, 1 accessible chair swing and, my favorite, the friendship swing (shown below)! I absolutely love watching friends or parent/child combinations on these swings where you can see each other’s expressions as you swing.
Water Features: None.
Inclusive Features: Rubber surfacing and turf make play easier for all ages and abilities. There is a wheelchair-accessible merry go round, sensory panels in the play structures and a separate music area. Note that there is also an accessible bridge to the “clubhouse” structure, however, the entrance to the bridge is on a steep grass-covered hill.
The curriculum at Little Kitchen Academy focuses on seasonal, locally grown, organic produce and ingredients, and students enjoy the fruits of their labor for a “scratch to consumption” experience at the end of each lesson. The program, which is nut, meat, poultry, and seafood free, also can accommodate those with gluten, dairy, or other allergies.
Favorite Features of Robinson Park
I love the location of this park, hidden from busy streets and in a gorgeous neighborhood. There is a huge lawn area to play outdoor games and the playground is wonderful. Robinson Park creatively incorporates the landscape and sloped hills in its design.
The playground has equipment for all ages, many different styles of play, all with a “clubhouse” feel. My kids all ended up at the musical area with a variety of drums and giant chimes.
There are also an assortment of climbing options that will provide fun and a challenge. Our favorites were the hill-shaped climbers below and the curved ladders up to the play structure.
Surrounding Area Highlights
Robinson Park is home to a half basketball court, baseball practice field and a lawn perfect for picnics! During the winter, take along your sleds and snowpants to enjoy the sledding hill!
