With Spring Break around the corner, and the completely unpredictable weather we’ve been having in Colorado, here are some ideas for some family fun indoors!
One of our favorite (and free!) places to go when whether isn’t cooperating is the library! There are storytimes or activities you can sign up for, but there are usually play areas open for kids anytime. With a seven year spread between my oldest and youngest, I love that each kid can find something to do and I can find a cozy place to read or get some work done at the same time! Every library is different so check out more than just your closest one. For some great ideas, check out @coloradowithkiddos on Instagram – she has been highlighting a tour of Colorado libraries!
If you’re going during the summer for some shade, make sure you check out your local library’s summer reading program!
Did you know that Hammond’s Candy Factory offers free tours year round? This is the perfect sweet trip to surprise your kids with on the next indoor play day. Click here to schedule your tour!
I recently asked on social media about favorite indoor pools and was blown away by all of the amazing recreation centers that were given a shout out! Until I put together a full list, here is a link so you can read the comments too and find your next perfect pool day.
Tip: Check out the recreation center website before you go so you can plan for even more fun! There are climbing walls, indoor playgrounds and more to enjoy.
There are some fantastic indoor playgrounds in Colorado! Pictured below is Lava Island in Aurora and below that is a list of even more options, hopefully one near you. Do you have a favorite? Let us know in the comments!

Oh the memories! I used to love going to the skate rink growing up and I’m loving that my kids now enjoy it too!
Fun fact: My parents AND grandparents met each other for the first time roller skating! It’s fun to share these stories as I skate with my children.
We have fantastic, huge museums for your family to visit in Colorado, but there are also smaller ones that are worth visiting. Westminster’s KidSpace is full of scientific learning and indoor play and Lafayette’s WOW! Children’s Museum has a ship to captain, doctor’s office, light room and so much more! Share your favorite museum for kids with us in the comments below.
This idea is for those of you with older kids – head to an escape room! Not only do you have fun spending time together, it is amazing to see how their brains work to figure out each puzzle.
Tip: Check ahead of time to see recommended ages for the escape room. We’ve had great experiences as a family at Puzzle Effect in Northglenn, but I know there are more options all over Colorado!
