21 Indoor Play Areas & Kid-Friendly Activities in Colorado!

Need a place to go when the Colorado sun hits hard? Will our kids be stuck at home all day when the snow hits?! There are many fantastic places across the state perfect for those days you want to play indoors!

Here is a list of indoor play areas, and some kid-friendly activities, that we have found. We hope you’ll love them too! Don’t forget to check their website or call for up to date information about reservations, special events, altered hours, etc.

#1 SweetPlay

Locations:

The list starts with a favorite spot of ours to play and attend birthday parties, SweetPlay (previously known as Candeeland Colorado)! This is the perfect spot to take your kiddos and they will be delighted by all of the brightly-colored fun surrounding them. There is a ball pit, separate play area for younger ages, arcade, and so many places to climb and play. For hours of operation and additional details, visit their website.

#2 WOW! Children’s Museum

Address: 110 N Harrison Ave, Lafayette, CO 80026

If you haven’t been to the WOW! Children’s Museum, it’s time for a visit! My girls all love it (ages 5, 9 and even the 12 year old has fun!).

#3 Play Street Museum

Oh my cuteness! Play Street Museum is a wonderful place for your littles to play this fall! Designed for ages 1 to 8, this indoor play area “Town Square” will delight their senses and bring out their imagination. They also offer birthday parties and special events, such as fall-themed craft making and pumpkin painting! Full details and reservations can be found here.

Play Street Museum’s website reminds us that “Providing time for our children to have self directed play stimulates their imaginations, encourages them to problem solve, and allows them to refine their social skills – helping them to build a strong framework for a lifetime of learning.”



#4 Kids Dig

“Come Play in Colorado’s Largest Indoor Sandbox with Over 60 Tons of Sand!” With all of the sandboxes slowly disappearing from parks these days, what a perfect concept for kids right now! Kids Dig provides a place to play while socially distanced, and even offers private sand play areas. Check out their website here for reservations or call ahead to check how busy they are. Better yet, if your little loves to dig in the sand, the birthday parties look adorable! Kids Dig is for ages 7 and under, diapers are ok.

#5 Lava Island

They have a VOLCANO SLIDE!! That’s all it took for me to get excited about visiting Lava Island but there’s so much more! There is the playground (shown above), a trampoline park and themed climbing walls – you pick the section that best fits your family. Reservations are not currently required, however, check their website prior to visiting for any changes and open hours. This is one place where you can play along with your kids or you can enjoy their Starbucks coffee, snacks and free wifi while you watch!

#6 Children’s Museum of Denver

The Children’s Museum of Denver has some incredible exhibits, including the Art Studio, Joy Park and the Water exhibit. For additional details and hours of operation, visit https://www.mychildsmuseum.org/.



#7 Denver Aquarium

Address: 700 Water St, Denver, CO 80211

Ready to go under the sea? Your family will love the incredible number of fish, tiger exhibit, Mermaid Shows, Carousel and 4D theater. Click here to check hours of operation and plan your underwater adventure.

While you’re there, check to see if Sharkey’s Fun Zone is open! This indoor play area is typically reserved for birthday parties on the weekends, but it is definitely worth the ask when you’re there.

#8 Denver Museum of Nature & Science

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is one of our favorite places to go! We love the scavenger hunts that you can find at the information desk, traveling exhibits and secret spaceship inside Space Odyssey!

#9 Playdate

Address: 11940 Bradburn Blvd #100, Westminster, CO 80031

Playdate is a bright and playful indoor space designed for kids age 6 and under and their families to explore, socialize, and engage in active, screen-free fun. It features open play, soft structures, and a welcoming environment where parents can connect while children roam safely. It promises a joyful, active outing that fosters imagination and community all in one space.

#10 Kids Wonder

Address: 7562 S University Blvd Suite GG, Centennial, CO 80122

The more I hear about Kids Wonder, the more I think every child will love it! Geared toward ages 0 to 8, this intentional play center is packed with activities that will bring laughter and get their imaginations running. Their pretend town has everything from a schoolhouse to construction zone and there are five large inflatables as well. Parents can enjoy beverages, gift shop and there is even space available for parents to work while the kids play. Check out the Kids Wonder website for hours of operation and to make reservations.

#11 Little Monkey Bizness

Little Monkey Bizness is the perfect spot to let little ones climb, take risks, play pretend, and make new friends! Play along with them or parents can actually get a chance to sit and relax. There’s a seating area for visiting or working, a coffee bar with snacks, and free WiFi.

#12 Archery Games Denver

Archery Games offers an engaging and safe archery experience where participants of all ages can test their aim, learn new skills, and enjoy friendly competition. With expert guidance, kid-friendly setups, and a welcoming atmosphere, it’s ideal for families, groups, or celebrations. #13 The Playground

The play area at The Playground has so much for kids to do! Created for ages 1 to 8, there are the typical slides and jungle gyms, but there are also elements that make it completely unique. #14 tumble HAUS

Tumble HAUS in Denver is an indoor play gym designed to support your little one’s adventurous side with equipment like ziplines, trampolines, swings, and more. It offers a safe, welcoming space where children (up to age 5) and caregivers can move, explore, and connect through active play.

#15 Bounce Empire

#16 Hammond’s Candies

While this isn’t a play area, Hammond’s Candies is a fantastic place to take your kids this fall! Join in a free kid-friendly tour of the candy factory (30 min in length) then find some treats in the candy store. Your whole family will love the interactive tour, especially since it ends with a free candy!

#17 Girl Scout DreamLab

DreamLab with Girl Scouts Colorado offers an inspiring space where girls can explore STEM, leadership, and creative projects in a hands-on environment. Through interactive exhibits, workshops, and collaborative challenges, participants gain skills, confidence, and a passion for innovation. DreamLab is open to all children, not just Girl Scouts, however check their website or call before going to verify that day’s hours.

#18 We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym

Address: 300 Nickel St Unit 5, Broomfield, CO 80020

We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym is a vibrant, sensory-inclusive play space designed to welcome children of all abilities, featuring equipment like swings, balance beams, and obstacle courses to support movement, creativity, and exploration. The environment emphasizes safety, social connection, and physical development through playful experiences. Kids will love this gym whether they need extra support or not, it is open to everyone!

#19 Warrior Playground

Address: 700 9th Ave, Longmont, CO 80501

Warrior Playground is a ninja warrior–style gym and obstacle training facility where kids and adults alike can play, train, and grow their confidence. With ninja lessons, open-gym play, fitness classes, and competitive programming, the space blends fun and physical challenge. #20 Kids Galaxy

Kids Galaxy is a vibrant, screen-free play space where imagination takes center stage. Children can explore themed areas like a construction zone, grocery store, and wellness check station, encouraging creativity and interactive play. #21 Ice Centre

Address: 10710 Westminster Blvd, Westminster, CO 80020

While it isn’t a typical indoor play area, Ice Centre at the Promenade in Westminster is a large, all-ages ice arena that offers more than just public skating. With programs like “Learn to Skate,” youth and adult hockey leagues, figure skating, and ice rentals, it’s for athletes and families alike. Whether you’re looking to try something new, host a birthday party, or just glide across the ice with friends, Ice Centre delivers fun, fitness, and community spirit.
