Chilly day? Check out this Space-Themed Indoor Playground!
Have you ever wanted to take your kids to an indoor playground, then stopped because you remembered the chaos and how you kept having to search for your child? Or instantly felt the anxiousness and stress of a zillion kids running around, sure someone would get hurt? I know I have!
Ok, so if an indoor playground is off the table, how about a trip to a museum? What visions does that bring up for you? I picture the shush-ing I’d need to do for my constantly chatting daughter, the breakable items you want them to see but not touch, rushing around to just see the “cool stuff” before a meltdown…
It is with all of this in mind that I felt full appreciation for a place called KidSpace! This completely unique business is the best of both worlds. At KidSpace, you get the awesome museum-like learning along with the fun of a playground, all with a sense of parental peace!
Address: 6805 W 88th Ave, Westminster, CO 80021
Age Recommendations: Crawling up to age 12, ages 4 to 8 will especially love it! The whole place is great for all ages, however there is also a specific toddler area in the middle of everything that was perfect for those smaller visitors.
My four year old came with me and she absolutely loved the whole place!
Ballistics Zone
The “ball place” was my daughter’s favorite part of KidSpace. Whether it was aiming the foam balls from the upper level or making them fly up and out of the ball fountain, she spent the majority of our time in the Ballistics Zone. As a parent, I loved that that I could see her go in and out and didn’t have to worry about her getting hurt.
Rocket Launch
One of the main goals of KidSpace is “STEM learning through active play”. You won’t find anything in the play area that doesn’t also teach you something – it was great for me as well! A fantastic example is the rocket launch where children aim their “rocket” and then launch by jumping on the air pad. My daughter learned some laws of physics without even realizing it!
KidSpace is not somewhere you just run in for a bit, this is a place you should plan to stay for a while. There is just so much to do and see! Unfortunately, I didn’t know just how much they offered so we didn’t have time to enjoy the planetarium 🙁 . I did learn about it though and will definitely go back to check it out! They offer different shows every hour, most on the schedule ranged between 20 to 30 minutes, in an ePlanetarium.
Can’t you just see your future astronaut having the perfect birthday here?!
What about Us?
So, what do you do while your kids play? Enjoy your time! You can grab a flavored coffee and have a seat, watching your child experience the STEM play. You can take off your shoes and explore with them, including crawling through the space playground and coming down the slides. You can challenge them to a rocket launch contest and learn as you go. Or you can take along your work to get some things done while they’re entertained!
We loved KidSpace because it felt like a destination, not just a place to play. I would definitely recommend it! When you go, make sure you plan on extra time to watch one or more of the planetarium shows too!
