Most Unique Playground in Colorado Mountains!

If you’ve been to Vail, you know that it’s more of a destination than a quick stop, but if you do happen to be driving through the mountains, we’ve found a perfect playground to visit! Your kids can have a fun break from the car and you won’t even have to deal with crowded parking garages! It’s a win-win!

The park is called Red Sandstone Park and has a style all its own with giant stick figures and clubhouse feel. After a little research, we found that the town of Vail works with artists to create completely unique parks! We visited two other parks while we were in town and I can’t wait to go see the rest next time!

Address: 715 N Frontage Rd W, Vail, CO 81657 Red Sandstone Park is located along the frontage road with a small parking lot, making it the perfect rest stop for you and your family.

Bathroom/Shade: Since we weren’t staying in Vail, we were delighted to find a small bathroom building and water fountain. 😉 And more importantly, shade!! As you can see from the pictures, there are large shade trees surrounding the park, as well as multiple shaded picnic tables.

Age Recommendations: All ages will enjoy this park! There is a toddler slide, both baby and regular swings, and ramps for easy access to the clubhouse.

Unique Features: The entire park is unique but what stood out the most was what my kids called “The Clubhouse”. The large structure had ladders, bridges, slides, secret passageways, fireman pole and multiple levels. They also loved the spinning seats near the toddler slide.

Good to know: Nearby the playground was a sand volleyball court and there are grills available to barbecue. This would be the perfect place for a small group to gather (no reservation required, it’s first come first serve)!
