18 New Colorado Playgrounds Built in 2021!

How many of these playgrounds have you been to? Make sure you’re keeping a list or, better yet, bookmark this page so you’re prepared for your next outdoor adventure!

9 – Observatory Park

Address: 795 S 22nd Ave, Brighton, CO 80601

With a name like Observatory Park, why wouldn’t there be a giant Saturn?! The large planet was fun to climb on and slide down, but beware that it can be slippery depending on your shoe choice. There are climbing features, musical panels, swings and a scavenger hunt!

8 – Fairfax Park

Address: 2856 Fairfax St, Denver, CO 80207

I almost don’t need to say anything and just post this picture – wow! A bit like a maze (I’ve also heard hamster cage), the inside of this play structure was unlike anything we have experienced before. The kids can climb, slide, jump, and safely take some risks as they explore this new feature.

Please note that there are many Fairfax Park’s in Colorado so make sure you’re heading to the one in Park Hill. Plan some extra time to check out the restaurants nearby and during the summer, there is also a small splash pad!

7 – Foxhill Park

Address: 8100 S Holly St, Centennial, CO 80122

How fun does this new playground look at Foxhill Park in Centennial?! There is a two story high slide, musical instuments, accessible swing, new basketball hoops and many other features to try out. If you go, make sure to check out one of these other 9 Centennial Playgrounds while you’re there!

6 – Romans Park

Address: 1800 E Floyd Ave, Englewood, CO 80113

We chose quite the windy day to visit the new playground at Romans Park, but that didn’t stop us from trying everything out! The play structures are adorable. Shown below is the area for younger kids – we loved the caterpillar and butterfly most (and my daughter was very cautious around the giant bumblebee 😉 ). The area for older kids was fantastic as well with its mushroom steps, tall slide and climbable caterpillar. Romans Park also got a new basketball court, tennis courts and a fitness zone.

5 – Westminster Station Park

Address: 3501 Creekside Drive, Westminster, CO 80221

One of the largest new Colorado playgrounds is a natural playground complete with the giant, wheelchair accessible treehouses shown below! There are log/obstacle structures, stage with log seating, and a future water feature. One of my favorite aspects to Westminster Station Park is the large sand area – keep on digging, you may discover some fossils under there!

4 – Schaefer Athletic Complex

Address: 3624 S Kipling St, Denver, CO 80235

The Schaefer Athletic Complex is located near Bear Creek High School and is perfect for all of your kiddos that love sports and staying active. With two playgrounds on the property and so many athletic fields, everyone will find something they enjoy. We love the baseball theme, custom panels and red, white and blue colors of the first playground and the disc swing and spinners are always a hit with the second!

3 – McNichols Park

Address: 1700 Rosemary St, Denver, CO 80220

It took us until the last week of the year, but we made it to the new playground at McNichols Park! I don’t know about you, but I instantly thought of Nuggets games at McNichols Arena ;). About the new playground though, it’s a great little spot! Nothing too challenging for the older ages, but the younger ages will love it. The beehive climbing walls and hillside slide make it a fun, unique place to play.

2 – Secrest Park

Address: 6820 W 66th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003

The new playground behind Secrest Recreation Center is a fantastic new addition for the community! There is a ramp-accessible play structure (with huge shade panels!), large rope climbing sphere, inclusive merry go round and a cone shaped spinner. You will also find basketball courts, an inline skating rink and walking paths nearby.

1 – James A. Bible Park

Address: 6802 E Yale Ave, Denver, CO 80224

One of Denver’s Regional parks, James A Bible Park, went through a big transformation and opened in November. The play structure will immediately catch your eye, and can you see that bridge between the towers?! There is a large turf covered hill where kids like to slide down on cardboard, obstacle course, accessible merry go round and giant net climber. There is also a fun scooter path a bit to the west of the park!
