Nature-themed Playground will Delight at Romans Park in Englewood

You will feel like a character in “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” when you visit Romans Park in Englewood! The nature theme here is much more than just some log stumps and treehouse structures, they take it to a whole new level. Who wouldn’t love to climb onto a giant bumblebee, say hello to a kid-sized butterfly or ride on a dragonfly’s wings?!

Romans Park is also a great spot to enjoy extra activities like tennis, basketball or the fitness zone while your kids play.

Address: 1800 E Floyd Ave, Englewood, CO 80113

Bathroom: Yes, there is a restroom building.

Shade: Unfortunately, no shade over the play equipment beyond the shade from trees around the perimeter.

Surface: Wood chips.

Have you seen our new Slides and Sunshine journal and sketchbook?! ☀️ This is the perfect gift for the kiddos in your lives! There are prompts to write about 50 adventures (new playgrounds, family hike, road trip stops) and space to draw, tape in pictures, add stickers, and remember favorite moments ❤️. Get yours here!

Age Recommendations: In my opinion, this playground will be great for ages 2 to 8. The play structure above is for the older ages (5 to 12), however, everything else is more geared toward the younger kids.

Inclusive Features: Unfortunately, there are no ramps or rubber surfacing for easier accessibility. All kids will love the giant bugs and insects but beyond that, there aren’t many sensory or musical features.

Swings: There are two baby swings and 4 traditional belt swings.

Water Features: None.

Unique Features of Romans Park

The nature theme runs throughout the entire play area with logs instead of plastic poles, caterpillars to climb, and a toadstool table and chairs.

You’ll feel like you just took a trip into “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” with the giant sized butterfly, caterpillar and bumblebee!

On the other side of the tennis courts, you will find these beautifully painted mushroom benches. You will also find a tribute to E.P. “Packy” Romans, the park’s namesake and Director of Englewood Parks and Recreation for almost 40 years!
