3 Reasons to Check Out This School Playground in Arvada!
The other day I posed a question to friends about who has the best elementary school playground and Sierra Elementary was one of the first to come up. Nestled in a neighborhood in Arvada (near 80th, between Kipling & Simms), we were not led astray…it was impressive!
Address: 7771 Oak St, Arvada, CO 80005
It’s New!
This playground was just completely updated making it new, exciting and full of fun equipment! The girls and I were instantly in awe of the playground structures, rainbow sun catchers and the overall size of the play area.
Obstacle Course Fun!
For most of the time we were there, the kids designed and ran through obstacle course after obstacle course. This was especially true on the section furthest from the parking lot (see image below)! I love playgrounds that inspire athletic ability and healthy competition!
It’s Time to Climb!
This playground was covered with climbing features and the kids loved it! There were rock walls, crazy ladders, floating steps, rope nets and free standing equipment.
Additional Unique Features: The girls loved “the cool swing” which they sat and stood on. I believe it is made for accessibility for all because it is a large platform big enough for a wheelchair. My oldest spent time on all things monkey bars, especially the gymnastics bars. It’s amazing how few parks have those single bars! Lastly, my youngest loved that the blacktop was covered with games like hopscotch!
Parents Should Know: There is no bathroom! I don’t like to highly recommend playgrounds without bathroom options but this one was worth it. Unfortunately, no super close options so go first or stop along the way when you can 😉
Also, there is very little shade so pack your sunscreen! You’ll find a few covered picnic tables where you can have snacks or lunch. In case you want to bring along some sand toys, there’s also a large sandbox!
