Stars & Stripes Inspire at Brighton’s NEW Veterans Park!

The minute we pulled up to Brighton’s completely new Veterans Park playground, I knew it would be perfect to share for Independence Day! With the red, white and blue play structure and stars & stripes flooring, its Veterans-theme runs true. You’ll feel American pride as you watch the kids experience this amazing playground.

Veterans Park Logistics

Address: 405 W Bridge St, Brighton, CO 80601

Bathroom: Yes, there is a bathroom building at Veterans Park (however, it is currently closed due to COVID-19).

Shade: Some. I was actually surprised at how long the kids played before saying it was too hot. The giant play structure shades itself and the covered slides stay cool enough to enjoy, even on the 90+ degree day! For those of us watching the fun, there is a covered pavilion with a few tables and some trees perfect for picnics.

*When you visit, take a look up from inside the pavilion. There are baby birds there!

Age Recommendations: Aside from the xylophone and baby swing, this playground is designed for ages 5+. The play structure is very high and slides are only accessible if you climb through the rope maze shown below. Because of these various feats, if you do have little ones, I’d recommend Colorado Park or Carmichael Park instead.

Veterans Park Unique Features

You want tall slides?! Veterans Park in Brighton is the place to go! This park was made for those with courage and strength, just like the Veterans that inspired it.

I love all of the military-inspired elements throughout the playground. For instance, the American flags fly above, there are stars at every landing and even an opportunity to pilot an aircraft!

Veterans Memorial

Halfway between the park entrance and playground is the memorial “dedicated to the Veterans of Brighton for their services”. There you will find a five-sided sculpture representing the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force and Coast Guard. The roses and benches make it a beautiful spot to sit, reflect and remember.

Surrounding Area Highlights

At the opposite end of the parking lot, there are multiple trails you can take. One leads you to the South Platte River where the kids can practice skipping rocks and watch the water flow. (There’s a sign saying it isn’t safe to wade in the water so please stay ashore.)

The other trails lead you to the Colorado Front Range Trail and wildlife viewing. I wish we would’ve planned more time (and snacks!) to explore.
