My first thought whenever I see a new housing development, like Prospect Park in Broomfield, is always about the new playgrounds that will be built. In this case, we not only found one good playground, we found a whole bunch! And I have no doubt that as the area is developed, I’ll have to update this post with even more. As you’ll see, some of the parks below have an approximate address or no name so please reach out or comment if you have any questions. Daniel Carmichael Park, named after the city’s Founder, will delight your children with its fun colors and circus feel – it is a well-loved Brighton park! While the rubber playground surfacing (playground floor) has seen better days, the equipment was in good shape and the girls had a fantastic time. The picture above does not do justice to the awesomeness that leads me to saying Deputy Zach S Parrish III Memorial Park is the best park in Castle Rock! Not only is there a huge play structure with ninja warrior style obstacles high overhead, there are also climbing features, swings, a toddler play area, zipline and so much more. Unique Play Experience at Sugar Beet Park!
I was intrigued when a friend mentioned Sugar Beet Park in Fort Collins, Colorado. I had no idea what a sugar beet was, let alone how they’d design a playground around it! What we found was an extremely well done park design giving homage to the history of Fort Collins. It is like visiting an outdoor museum! No Fear of Heights Allowed at this Fort Collins Park!
I have to admit, this Fort Collins park caused me some confusion… I read about the brand new playground at Crescent Park on the City of Fort Collins page, but then I couldn’t find it by name on any map! Apparently, this neighborhood park is also called Maple Hill Park in some locations (like the Google Map below). Regardless of the name confusion, Crescent Park was an exciting find for our family! Bring Your Lil’ Explorers to this Charming Park in Louisville!
UPDATE FEB 2021: Sadly, the man-made forest structures have been taken down. The playground is great and there are still many trails for walking and biking as you’ll read in our review from summer 2020… Two town playgrounds were chosen for an update this year and Keith Helart Park in Louisville was one of the lucky winners! While the playground isn’t huge, it has wonderful new equipment, large amounts of shade AND a secret forest that will bring out the imagination in us all. Greeley’s Inclusive Playground Provides Fun for All!
Have you visited an “inclusive playground”? Chances are that the playgrounds near you are “ADA compliant” but there still aren’t many features made for kids of all abilities to enjoy. I love Aven’s Village in Greeley because it is truly inclusive, in other words, designed for ALL. The rubber flooring and ramps allow easy access for wheelchairs, the chair zipline and swings give everyone a turn, and the overall feel of the park is happy and playful. Aven’s Village at the Island Grove Regional Park joins our list of best themed playgrounds in Colorado. Its “Old West” theme shines through in every direction you turn and it is absolutely worth…
