Here in Colorado, we love taking our kids to the playground and our dogs to the dog park! Let’s combine the best of both worlds as we highlight the best dog park and playground combinations in and near the Boulder County! Keep reading to discover the top eight in the area…
This post is sponsored by Active Dog Colorado! Active Dog Colorado is a dog hiking and boarding company who have been helping Colorado families get their dog out to exercise and socialize with their friends in the Rocky Mountains since 2015! We would love to add your active pup to the pack!
Address: 955 Bella Vista Dr, Louisville, CO 80027
Louisville Community Park is a must visit during the summer when the splash pad is running! The playground has a bit of town history built in with a features mimicking a mining town and railroad stop.
It is also home to a large dog park (with a POND!) and a separate gorgeous pond area with a small sculpture walk. Be prepared to come home with wet kids and pups from Louisville Community Park!
Address: 5123-5275 Valmont Rd, Boulder, CO 80301
Talk about a BIKE PARK! Valmont Park is 42 acres of biking fun, and it is also home to multiple dog park areas, large skate park and small playground (near Airport Rd entrance). Bring along your bikes, skateboards, scooters, and, of course, your four-legged friends for a fantastic day of fun!
Address: 13200 Sheridan Boulevard, Broomfield, CO 80020
This park in Broomfield is huge and a bit more spread out than others on the list. The dog park is split into two areas, both quite large, for small dogs and big dogs. There is so much room for them to run around!
On the south side of the parking lot is a small playground, but if you’re there to play, make sure to stop at the much larger playground in the middle of Broomfield County Commons Park. It has many inclusive features, like ramps throughout, an expression swing where you get to swing right along with your little one, and a fitness zone!
Address: 8625 W 53rd Ave, Arvada, CO 80002
Arvada has a large off-leash dog area at West Arvada Dog Park, but if you’d like a place with a playground, Terrace Park is your spot. The dog park is split into two areas (one was closed for maintenance when we arrived) and located on the higher north section of Terrace Park. The playground is located on the south side, off of W 53rd Ave. There are two small play structures with swings in between, as well as a fitness walk with equipment along the route and full basketball court.
Address: 1830 Honey Creek Dr, Superior, CO 80027
There is not a playground near the Autrey Dog Park in Superior, however, there is an awesome skate park and multiple bike parks! The area includes a pump track, dirt bike park and disc golf course.
Address: 1700 W 128th Ave, Westminster, CO 80234
Located near 128th and Federal, a large dog park can be found at the entrance for Big Dry Creek Park. There are very few elements within the dog park, but it has a lot of room to run. (I did not see a separate area for small dogs.)
If you go a little farther through the parking lot, you will come to an incredible playground! I love the height of the play structure pictured below – it is difficult to see that it is a square-shaped set of bridges along the top. The park also includes a long seesaw, sand play area, and a second play structure for younger kids which includes monkey bars they can reach.
Address: 3655 W 69th Pl, Westminster, CO 80030
The Little Dry Creek Dog Park is actually on the other side of Lowell from the Westminster Nature Playground, but I just couldn’t leave it off this list! The dog park is one of the smallest on the list, however it does have separate sides for large vs small dogs.
The playground at Westminster Station is like no other nature playground. With it’s jumble of logs, ropes and barrel to climb through and accessible treehouses, your kids will be blown away and you will feel like you’ve transported right out of Westminster. During the summer, there is a fantastic water feature and you can always enjoy digging for fossils in the enormous sand box.
Address: 5440 Sioux Dr, Boulder, CO 80303
Our final dog park to highlight is at the East Boulder Park, split for big dogs and little dogs. It is in a gorgeous spot with a lake surrounding the community center and the Boulder Flatirons in the distance.
This is your destination if you have dino-loving kiddos with you! The East Boulder Park playground is large with the eye-catching T-Rex right in the middle to climb on. In addition to the playground, there are many other options to play, including basketball, sand volleyball, baseball, tennis, and soccer.
Thanks for joining us at Slides & Sunshine. Now it’s time to get out there and PLAY!
