The HIGHEST town playground in North America!
The town of Alma, Colorado is registered at 10,578 ft (!!) making it the highest incorporated town in North America. So, what did I have to do? See if there was a park of course!
The Alma Park & Playground sits next to Town Hall and had such beautiful mountain views. It was June and still so much snow!
Address: 59 Buckskin St, Alma, CO 80420 (Parking is at Town Hall)
Recommended Ages: All! While the playground might not be huge, there are high monkey bars that are a favorite for my oldest, and there is also a skate park and basketball court. Your littles will enjoy the slides, bouncing airplane & rhinocerous, and gymnastic rings!
My favorite part of the park was the small beach and river just past the playground. Talk about peaceful! There was a beautiful bench with the name “MAGS” facing the water and from there we watched the girls throw rocks and then dance together on the stage.
While we were there, we watched a teenager master the skate park on his skateboard. He was amazing! The ramps weren’t too high but definitely provided a challenge. After he left, the girls tried their ninja warrior skills to climb up 😉
Near Alma, you’ll find the towns of Fairplay and South Park, Colorado (they even have a cut out sign with the characters for all of you that just perked up to the words “South Park”). And speaking of TV shows, Fairplay is getting quite well known as well because of its mining featured on “Gold Rush”!
