I get asked often about parks that are good for toddlers and I always go toward inclusive playgrounds such as Arista Sensory Park in Broomfield. This playground was developed in part with the Children’s Hospital Therapy Clinic for its patients, their families and the community. There are many inclusive features allowing kids of all ages and abilities to play, including ramps, sensory features, accessible swings and merry go round. Arista Sensory Park is an asset to the whole community and your kids will love it!
This inclusive playground review is sponsored by our friends at Parent Possible. This Denver based non-profit oversees home visiting and parent engagement programs to ensure Colorado parents have the tools, resources, confidence and support to reach their potential. Parent Possible works with trusted messengers statewide to raise awareness of Vroom’s resources, including the free Vroom App with over 1,000 fun and easy activities that help prepare children for friends, school, and life.
While we were at Arista Sensory Park, we used ideas from Vroom, a FREE app for parents with simple brain building activities families can do on the go, or at the park. You enter the ages of each child to view tips targeted to their stage of development. This time we tried an activity called “Colorful World” (shown below). My daughter stopped to count every single brown piece in that sensory panel – there were a lot! Then we had fun finding the color red on the playground and listing off our own favorite red objects. I love that these simple ideas lead to such fun between myself and my little one!

Age Recommendations: In my opinion, children up to age 8 will enjoy this playground, as well as anyone looking for a park that is conducive for all abilities.
Swings: 2 traditional swings, 2 baby swings and 2 accessible chair swings.
Water Features: None.
You will love the fun and simple ideas on the free Vroom App from Parent Possible. Short activities that will entertain and teach your little ones while preparing them for preschool and beyond.
While most of the equipment is wheelchair accessible, there are a few features that are more about upper body strength. There is a unique set of monkey bars as well as this bicycle-like climber where you rotate both your arms and legs at the same time. It was quite tricky!
The playground at Arista Sensory Park is bigger than it looks from the road. It has a large sand play area with diggers and space to spread out so bring along some sand toys.
There are ramps throughout the play structure making it wheelchair accessible as well as easier for those new walkers to enjoy!
It can’t be called Arista Sensory Park without a bunch of sensory elements, could it? Your kids will love all of the musical instruments, games, and other easily accessible sensory and tactile features.
