Prehistoric-themed Playground and Trailhead at Dakota Ridge Park

Bathroom: None at the time we visited.

Shade: Not much, there are a couple of covered tables, but most of the play area is uncovered.

Surface: Rubber pour-in-place surfacing.

Age Recommendations: I would recommend up to age 10 for this playground. There is a lot for the toddlers to enjoy and with the rubber surfacing, it is quite easy for them to get around. The play structure for ages 2 to 5 has a tic-tac-toe board, tunnel, slide and panels to help learn time and states!

Swings: 2 traditional swings and 2 baby swings.

Water Features: None.

Dakota Ridge Park Unique Features

We loved the subtle themed elements such as the dinosaur footprints along the surfacing, tree-like shades over the benches and the fossil imprints. My daughter had a great time trying everything in the main play structure which was more of a collection of obstacles. It was a test of balance and strength with some silliness along the way.

Across the grass field from the playground is a large boulder to climb so take along a scooter or plan for a walk around the park perimeter to experience everything.

Surrounding Area Highlights

Dakota Ridge Park is on the northern side of Boulder and has beautiful views nearby. Just a few blocks from the park is a trailhead with a 1.4 mile hike as well!
