Centennial Center Park, a “Best Day Ever!” Reaction

We finally made it to Centennial Center Park and found out why so many friends had told us to check it out! It is huge with a large, colorful splash pad and, in the words of my middle daughter, it was the “best day ever!” If you’ve ever met her, you know those are some of her favorite words, but with this park, we all agreed 😉 .

Address: 13050 E Peakview Ave, Centennial, CO 80111

Bathroom: Yes, there is a restroom building.

Shade: There are some shaded tables and large trees for shade, however, most of the playground equipment is uncovered and can get hot. The great thing is that you can run to the splash pad to cool down!

Surface: A bit of everything! There are wood chips and rubber surface under the play equipment and there is a large sand area as well. This is a place I would recommend water shoes or secure sandals as the kids will be running all over and then back to the splash pad.

Don’t forget to take along some of our park favorites!

Age Recommendations: A tricky answer for me… There is equipment for ages 2 to 12, however, if you have a few kids to keep an eye on or a young one that likes to wander, this might not be the park for you yet. The park is expansive and crowded so I’d wait until the kids are old enough to have a meeting place or plan to play right alongside them.

Swings: 2 traditional and 2 disc swings are in the main playground area (shown in picture above). 2 baby swings can be found by the sandbox area.

Water Features: Giant splash pad! Summer hours are 10AM – 8PM. Plan to arrive by 9:45 so you can get your space set up and sunscreen on before the fountains start. Unique Features

The playground area of Centennial Center Park has a very natural feel. You’ll love its clubhouse style play structure, ropes thick and thin to climb, large boulders and hillside slide. My 6 year old decided that this rope climber was the best part!

Looking for another fun playground nearby? Check out Arapaho Park!

Almost hidden from the main playground and splash pad is an area for ages 2 to 5. In this side location, you’ll find a small play structure, baby swings and fun-filled sand area.

Surrounding Area Highlights

I love elements that make a park completely unique and the Colorado focused “extras” made for such an experience! The perfect breakdown of these highlights comes from the City of Centennial website:

The main plaza showcases the historical timeline of the Cherry Creek Basin, including fun facts and a map of the Cherry Creek Watershed. The amphitheater’s design incorporates elements that represent the four periods of human history: Lithic, Archaic, Formative, and Classic. The “Colorado Statehood Walk” displays interesting facts about Colorado, while the “Viewfinder Walk” is an interactive trivia challenge that takes visitors on a quest throughout the Park– highlighting unique points of interests both inside and outside of the Park. Not just a place to play, but also a place to learn, Centennial Center Park is a treasure-trove of history and trivia.
