Fun for All Ages at Cougar Run Park in Highlands Ranch!
Until now, we had not yet covered a park in Highlands Ranch…how is that possible?! To those in the area, we will be reviewing more in that area of Colorado more in the future. And if we had to start somewhere, I am glad we chose Cougar Run Park as our first stop! With its separate areas for the different age groups, this is a great park to visit with your whole family. As you’ll see, we loved the ways the park matched its name (especially the lounging cougar!) and the challenging rope-constructed obstacles!

Cougar Run Park Logistics
Address: 8921 S Forrest Dr, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126
Bathroom: Yes! There is a small bathroom building available (that was open during off-season!)
Shade: Some. As you can see, we went during the winter when all of the trees were without leaves. During the summer/fall, that will be different and they will provide shade in areas around the playground. While much of the play equipment is open above, there are some shade panels covering the ropes course structure and pavilions for picnics.
Surface: Combination of wood chips and rubber surfacing. The rubber pour in place is in the toddler play area and under the rope spinner. My girls loved leaping across the cougar footprints on the ground!
Age Recommendations: 2 to 12. Cougar Run Park in Highlands Ranch is arranged nicely with the equipment for ages 2 to 5 separated from the older child equipment. Your little ones will love climbing around the cougar sculpture, playing in the sensory filled tree and racing down the slide.
Swings: There are 2 baby swings and 2 traditional swings.
Water Features: None.
Don’t forget to take along some of our park favorites!

Unique Features
The most unique part of Cougar Run Park in Highlands Ranch is the nature-themed “Branch Out structure” from Star Playgrounds. There are so many different ways to challenge yourself! My daughters especially love the thick rope to balance across, the climbing nets and the Wildwood climber shown below.
The cougar resting on top of a small tunnel is where kids gather and regroup. We love the small touches that make the park match its name! In addition to what’s already been shown above, there is a curved climbing bar structure, spinners, sensory games and a chipmunk bouncer.
Surrounding Area Highlights
