Giant‑Sized Adventure at Carpio‑Sanguinette Park

If you’ve ever wished you could step straight into Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, this is your moment. The brand‑new playground at Carpio‑Sanguinette Park in Denver’s Globeville neighborhood officially opens September 26, 2026, and it’s one of the most imaginative and delightfully oversized play spaces we’ve ever explored. Giant butterfly, towering cattails, climbable beetle, and whimsical turquoise pod playhouses transform this historic site into a nature‑themed wonderland. Kids can climb high, slide fast, and discover something new around every corner.

Whether you’re here for the playground, the pump track, the shaded pavilion, or the chance to learn about the area’s history, this park is packed with reasons to stay awhile.

Bathroom: A new restroom building sits under the large pavilion near the parking lot. It is easy to access from both the playground and the pump track.

Shade: Most of the playground is unshaded but there are plenty of trees and covered seating for visitors to relax. Add this to our “never seen before list”…the slide exit has its own shade cover (a parent’s dream!).

Surface: A mix of turf, colorful rubber surfacing, engineered wood fiber, and concrete, including original concrete reused creatively as swinging seat frames, planter boxes, and sculptural elements.

Age Recommendations: Great for all ages! Younger kiddos will adore the turquoise pod playhouses designed just for them. Big kids will love climbing the giant butterfly, flowers, cattails, and beetle. Everyone can enjoy the nature walk around Heron Pond and the bike pump track too!

Inclusive Features: Honestly, I didn’t notice many inclusive features. There is some rubber surfacing for easy mobility which also provides access to a chair swing.

Swings: This playground has a great swing lineup with 1 net disc swing, 4 belt swings, 1 baby swing and 1 chair swing.

Water Features: While there’s no splash pad, the entire park is built around stormwater and water‑quality improvements. You’ll find educational displays providing a rare chance for kids to learn how water moves through their city.

This playground is overflowing with standout elements such as the giant climbable butterfly, oversized flowers, cattails, and beetle sculptures.

Another fantastic addition for this area – the bike pump track!

Surrounding Area Highlights

Visible from the playground, is the Living Art Gallery (Graffiti Artist Playground). You can visit and even participate!

You can also wander the Heron Pond Open Space via nearby walking paths, a wonderful nature experience to add to your visit.
