S’Miles Playground: From Lemonade Stand to All‑Inclusive Destination in Berthoud

S’Miles Playground is Berthoud’s newest reason to smile, an all‑abilities play space built from pure community heart. What started five years ago with one family and one lemonade stand has grown into a fully realized, absolutely incredible playground designed for every age, every ability, and every generation to play side‑by‑side.

From the moment you walk up, the story is right there waiting for you: a real lemonade stand at the entrance, open for all to use, honoring the grassroots fundraising effort that made this park possible. It’s the sweetest welcome to a space built entirely on kindness, creativity, and neighbors coming together.

Bathroom: There will be bathrooms at the neighboring pool building available soon.

Shade: You’ll find shade panels everywhere, including whimsical ones shaped like flowers and butterflies that bring pops of color and personality to the whole play area.

Surface: There is rubber surfacing in fun colors as well as a turf hillside.

Age Recommendations: All! Every age group was considered in building this park. Be sure to see how teens were specifically thought about with the DJ booth in the Unique Features section below.

Inclusive Features: This playground was built with accessibility at its core. You’ll notice it immediately:

• Ramp‑connected play structure with sensory panels, games, and activity stations
• Rubber surfacing for smooth mobility
• Wheelchair‑accessible merry‑go‑round and swing
• Shaded swings for comfortable play
• Fencing around most of the park for added safety
• Hillside turf and slides that make climbing and gliding easy for a wide range of abilities

Every element invites kids to explore at their own pace, with confidence and independence.

Swings: There are so many swings! You will find two baby swings, two belt swings, one chair swing, one parent/tot swing AND a wheelchair-accessible swing at S’Miles Playground in Berthoud.

• An electronic game at the entrance that gets kids moving, thinking, and laughing before they even reach the main structure
• A fully interactive DJ booth above the play area! Kids (and adults!) can connect their phones and create their own soundtrack for the playground. It’s playful, surprising, and guaranteed to be a hit.

Add in the climbing shapes (which are much higher than they look), full play structure, and hillside slides, and you’ve got a playground that keeps kids exploring from every angle.
