Bring Your Lil’ Explorers to this Charming Park in Louisville!

UPDATE FEB 2021: Sadly, the man-made forest structures have been taken down. The playground is great and there are still many trails for walking and biking as you’ll read in our review from summer 2020…

Two town playgrounds were chosen for an update this year and Keith Helart Park in Louisville was one of the lucky winners! While the playground isn’t huge, it has wonderful new equipment, large amounts of shade AND a secret forest that will bring out the imagination in us all.

Shade: Yes! You will find two pergolas over picnic tables and the play area is surrounded by large shade trees.

Age Recommendations: 2 to 12. The equipment is made for ages 2 to 12, however, children over age 10 will enjoy the secret forest (see below) more than the playground. The younger kids will love the playhouse, tunnel and sandbox. Don’t forget to bring along some trucks and sand toys!

Looking for another great playground in Louisville? Check out Heritage Park!

Water Features: None.

Unique Features of Keith Helart Park

One of the best parts about Keith Helart Park is its brand new equipment! The play structure has a few slides, a tunnel bridge and “Kidz Rule!” clubhouse. There is also a rope obstacle between two climbable boulders.

What about this “Secret Forest”?!

Our favorite moment of the day was discovering the path across from the playground. A short walk into the trees led us into a magical wonderland!

According to a friend we met there, local residents have been creating teepees and forts from tree branches for years and it was amazing! The kids took off running to explore and experience it all. If not for the lack of bug spray, we would’ve stayed there all day!

Do you love playgrounds as much as we do? Check out our Map to see the other parks we’ve reviewed and plan your next adventure!

Thanks for joining us at Slides & Sunshine! Now it’s time to get out there and PLAY!

Don’t forget to Pin for later!
