Northern Lights Park, For All the Baseball Fans in Thornton!

Baseball lovers of Colorado, let me introduce you to Northern Lights park! This playground is located in Thornton at 13800 York St, Thornton, CO 80241 and is surrounded by the Northern Lights ball fields.

Recommended Ages: ALL! We loved this park because there really was something for everyone. (Disclaimer: the sign says it was designed for kids ages 5 to 12, however almost all of the kids there were under 5 and having a great time.)

Accessibility: There are ramps throughout the structure making it easy for everyone to participate and play. There were also games & learning signs throughout the structure with mazes to solve, a matching game and even a place to learn sign language.

Thank you for the great picture City of Thornton!

Unique Features: The baseball theme was done so well, even more so when you look at the aerial view! There is a baseball shaped spinner over a glove outlined floor – it doesn’t spin very fast but has two levels so many kids can be on it together. More favorite parts were the “rolling” slide, disc shaped swing and all of the monkey bar/obstacle course type features!

Great shade is provided by the canopies!

When to go: The park is surrounded by many baseball fields so I would not recommend summer weekends unless you’ve made sure a tournament isn’t going on that day. Weekdays have been almost completely open though! There’s a large parking lot, bathroom building (as well as a portable in case the building is locked), a WORKING drinking fountain & water bottle filler and 2 large shelters for shade and picnic tables.

What to take: Snacks and sunscreen always for park trips! We also would recommend taking your baseball or wiffle ball gear. There are many fields to practice on, including a toddler size field!

Baseball fans or not, kids of all ages will love this park and it is a great place to meet a group of friends! Leave us a comment with any questions or to shout out your favorite feature of the park. Thank you!
