Have You Been to the Lafayette Chicken Park?!

My daughters and I love Silver Creek Park (or most well known as “the chicken park”) in Lafayette, Colorado! With its adorable scavenger hunt, long zipline and so much more, it is a favorite park for all in the area. Honestly, the only reason we don’t spend more time there is because there is no bathroom 😉

Address: 612-566 Starline Ave, Lafayette, CO 80026

This poultry farm-themed park was inspired by the previous owners of the property, the Nuoci family. There is a plaque at the entrance along with the historic grain mixer from their farm, noting “one of the region’s largest poultry farms from 1920 to 1978.” I enjoy the park’s tie-in with the town’s history and the chicken farm theme is very well done!

Recommended Ages: All! There are sections of the park made with toddlers in mind and many additions that will be exciting for older kids as well.

Unique Features of the Chicken Park

My oldest daughter’s favorite thing about the playground (she’s 12) is that the play structure second floor is exclusive to older children. In order to get there, you have to climb a rope net or scale the wall. This is the only way to get to the tall slide! My middle daughter (age 9) absolutely loves the standing zip line and goes over and over again. My youngest (age 5) runs from the spinning cage to the slides to the ropes course, she loves it all!

As a family though, we decided the best part (and why everyone calls it “the chicken park” instead of Silver Creek) is the chicken and egg scavenger hunt! This is such a fun addition to the park and gives all visitors a reason to explore every inch of the park!

Scattered through the park are 1 large chicken, 5 large eggs, 5 small chickens and 10 small eggs. It’s like an Easter egg hunt all year round!

There’s a water feature too!

I haven’t even mentioned that there’s an awesome water feature to this Lafayette park (on summer days) with running water, pump spout, and creek with ways the kids can change the flow of the water!

The park has a great sized pavilion for gathering a group. However, there is NO bathroom and little shade! Unless you have a friend in the neighborhood, you’ll want to plan ahead. If needed, there’s an Arby’s just west of the park. 😉

Looking for other great parks in the area? Check out Star Meadows Park in Erie. Your children will love the space theme – they can even climb on the moon!

Don’t forget to Pin for later!
