Climb the Moon at Star Meadows Park in Erie!

For my science loving 8 year old, this was high on her list to visit once she heard it had a moon theme! The girls loved that they could try climbing the moon, there were moon rocks to spin and a statue near the benches even showed the different phases of the moon. They also thought it was fun following the spiral path to be a human sundial!

There was no shade on the playground but there is a large section of covered tables if you need a break from the sun. Also good to know, there is a portable bathroom right by the parking lot!

Address: Flatiron Meadows Blvd, Erie, CO 80516

Age Recommendations: All! There is one baby swing, an accessible chair swing, and much of the equipment works for any age. Star Meadows park is great for all ages, but it’s also right next to Meadowlark K-8 so, during non-school hours 😉 , there are two more playgrounds to visit around the school! (I have additional sections below to highlight what you’ll find at the school playgrounds.)

Unique Features: The rope/rubber bridge structure was the overall favorite. The girls tried to race across, laughed hysterically when they’d lose balance and set up “houses” in the triangle platforms below. There were also two disc swings, a spinning wheel to sit or stand, and a cone shaped rope spinner.

*Our favorite discovery after being there for a while was a small button by the moon statue – it turned on misters! That was such a nice surprise!

Meadowlark Elementary (ages 6+): Just up the hill on the south side of the school is the older kids playground. My youngest is 4 and she enjoyed it, but the slide shown is only accessible by climbing a pretty high rock wall and the bars at the top aren’t very significant for ensuring the safety of littles. It was a great playground to design an obstacle course though!

Meadowlark Elementary (ages 0 to 6): On the east side of the school you’ll find a small playground designed for younger children. The slide is an adorable playhouse and there is a seated merry go round. My youngest loved that the concrete was sprinkled with fun too – the ABCs to jump across, hopscotch and a race track surrounding the play area.

There were a bunch of covered picnic tables making Star Meadows Park a great place to meet friends or gather for a party. Here is the link to rent the shelter: https://www.erieco.gov/Facilities/Facility/Details/Star-Meadows-Park-28
