Have You Been to the Lafayette Chicken Park?!
My daughters and I love Silver Creek Park (or most well known as “the chicken park”) in Lafayette, Colorado! With its adorable scavenger hunt, long zipline and so much more, it is a favorite park for all in the area. Honestly, the only reason we don’t spend more time there is because there is no bathroom 😉 Address: 612-566 Starline Ave, Lafayette, CO 80026 This poultry farm-themed park was inspired by the previous owners of the property, the Nuoci family. There is a plaque at the entrance along with the historic grain mixer from their farm, noting “one of the region’s largest poultry farms from 1920 to 1978.” I enjoy…

3 Reasons This is Our Favorite Park in Commerce City!
This park has been on our list to visit for about a year and I am so glad we can now share it with you. Turnberry Park was full of vibrant colors, created with all things flower garden and was overall the best park in Commerce City! We have already been talking about which friends live nearby so that we can go back with them (on a cooler day though 😉 ). Address: 10725 Wheeling St, Commerce City, CO 80022 Bathroom/Shade: There is a single bathroom building with running water and hand dryer! Unfortunately, there is no shade on the playground so going before it gets too hot or on…

Climb the Moon at Star Meadows Park in Erie!
For my science loving 8 year old, this was high on her list to visit once she heard it had a moon theme! The girls loved that they could try climbing the moon, there were moon rocks to spin and a statue near the benches even showed the different phases of the moon. They also thought it was fun following the spiral path to be a human sundial! There was no shade on the playground but there is a large section of covered tables if you need a break from the sun. Also good to know, there is a portable bathroom right by the parking lot! Address: Flatiron Meadows Blvd,…

Most Adorable Park in Golden (and fun for big kids too!)
Oh my goodness, after visiting 4 other parks in Golden, Maple Grove Park took the prize for best of the day! This park was recently redone and is absolutely adorable. What I loved most as a parent is that the park is like two semi circles (little kids on one half, big kids on other half) and a perfect SHADED set of benches and table in the middle. I could see all of the kids no matter where they were playing! Address: 14600 W 32nd Ave, Golden, CO 80401 Age Recommendations: 0 to 12 years. This park is perfect for very young kids with bright colors and separate play area.…

Dual Zipline for the Win in Thornton!
If you live anywhere near Thornton, or even if you don’t, you have got to check out Amber Creek Park! Address: 6745 E 134th Ave, Thornton, CO 80602 Recommended Ages: All kids will enjoy this park! There is a more traditional play structure with slides, a disc swing, baby swings and spinners for the little ones. My older kids went straight for the dual zipline and rock climbing! Unique Features: The side by side ziplines were definitely our favorite part. The girls raced each other, tried sitting…

3 Reasons to Check Out This School Playground in Arvada!
The other day I posed a question to friends about who has the best elementary school playground and Sierra Elementary was one of the first to come up. Nestled in a neighborhood in Arvada (near 80th, between Kipling & Simms), we were not led astray…it was impressive! Address: 7771 Oak St, Arvada, CO 80005 It’s New! This playground was just completely updated making it new, exciting and full of fun equipment! The girls and I were instantly in awe of the playground structures, rainbow sun catchers and the overall size of the play area. Obstacle Course Fun! For most of the time we were there, the kids designed and ran…

Favorite park in Brighton!
The girls and I took a day trip to Brighton, CO and visited 5 parks – it was a bit ambitious for sure! The girls were in awe as we drove up and I had to pull them away when it was time to leave! Address: 555 North 11th Ave, Brighton, CO 80601 Recommended Ages: All! The HIGHEST town playground in North America!
The town of Alma, Colorado is registered at 10,578 ft (!!) making it the highest incorporated town in North America. So, what did I have to do? See if there was a park of course! The Alma Park & Playground sits next to Town Hall and had such beautiful mountain views. It was June and still so much snow! Address: 59 Buckskin St, Alma, CO 80420 (Parking is at Town Hall) Recommended Ages: All! While the playground might not be huge, there are high monkey bars that are a favorite for my oldest, and there is also a skate park and basketball court. Your littles will enjoy the slides, bouncing…

Treasure to be found in Silverthorne!
Whether you live in the mountains, plan a weekend trip or are just passing through, knowing where some great playgrounds are along the way is a must when you have kids. We came across Trent Park the last time we visited Silverthorne and the girls loved it! Address: 100 Willowbrook Rd, Silverthorne, CO 80498 Recommended ages: My opinion, ages 8 and under. This is an adorable structure but doesn’t have many thrills for the older kids. Unique Features: The Pirate theme to this park was well done complete with a ship, telescope, and treasure map. The feature that continues to be our favorite at a lot of newer parks though…

We have lived in Erie for 15 years now and, oh my goodness, it has grown so much! I couldn’t create this blog without sharing a family favorite – the playgrounds at the Erie Community Center! Address: 450 Powers St, Erie, CO 80516 (Note that this is for the building, the playgrounds are on the north side on the parking lot, near the baseball fields.) Recommended Ages: All!
