Fun for all in Erie!

We have lived in Erie for 15 years now and, oh my goodness, it has grown so much! I couldn’t create this blog without sharing a family favorite – the playgrounds at the Erie Community Center!

Address: 450 Powers St, Erie, CO 80516 (Note that this is for the building, the playgrounds are on the north side on the parking lot, near the baseball fields.)

Recommended Ages: All! There are two separate playgrounds, with sections specifically made for 2 to 5 year olds and others designed for ages 5 to 12.

Unique Features (for ages 2 to 5): My youngest loves the train area and always chooses to eat her snacks inside the train car versus the picnic tables with me. The train area also has a small slide, tunnel and decorated floor. Nearby you can find a spiral slide and large sand area. Don’t forget to take a few toys for the sandbox, your littles will definitely want to dig in the sand!

Unique Features (for ages 5 to 12): The NEOS electronic game is always the first stop! They can select games, music begins and then they jump, squat, kick and dance their way to high scores. The spinning bar (shown in top picture) is always where they head next. It only gives me a slight heart attack as kids run by while they swing around 😉

What else you should know: For the older kids or if you’re looking to practice other sports, there is a huge skate park, large grass field for soccer or football, and nearby tennis courts. The baseball fields are typically closed off during the day, but if you go while games are in progress… the pro is that the concession stand might be open, however, the con is that you have to watch out for foul balls & homeruns!

The entire park is well maintained and includes rare, beautful plants from Plant Select. You’re even able to scan QR codes by each plant to learn more about them – we were fascinated by the Colorado Desert Blue Star.

What if the weather takes a turn? Go inside! The Erie Community Center has a free indoor playground available for littles and a great pool if you want to stay longer.
