Central Park in Denver, the Perfect Blend of Old and New!

If you’ve been to Central Park in Denver before, you’ll recognize a few elements in that newly refurbished playground! The triple bouncer near the entrance, “supernova” spinner and giant climbable boulders were all kept from the original design. If you loved the old purple hills, there are new turf-covered hills that give that same feel without the wear and tear!

Central Park Logistics

Bathroom: Yes, there is a large restroom building near the parking lot.

Shade: Very little. There are cool shade panels over a handful of picnic tables, but it will be a while before the new trees planted provide shade over the equipment.

Surface: Central Park in Denver has it all! There are sections with wood chips, some with rubber surfacing, turf covered hills and a sand play area.

Age Recommendations: All! If you have a young child, age 2 to 5, make sure to check out the play structure shown below! There are musical elements, numbered steps, moveable shapes and best of all…a hot wheels track! Older kids will love the tall slides and boulders to climb.

Inclusive Features: There are many areas with rubber surfacing and turf for easier accessibility. There is a chair swing near the entrance and an inclusive merry go round. And don’t miss the roller bar slide with exit bench for inclusive transfer!

Swings: The swings at Central Park in Denver are in two locations. There is one baby swing and one chair swing located near the park entrance. The majority of the swings are near the east side of the playground and include 2 baby swings, 1 friendship swing, 4 traditional belt swings and 1 tire swing!

Water Features: YES! There is a splash pad / fountain area between the playground and pavilion open during summer months. Inside the playground, there is also a water feature with water pumps and stream that runs around the turf-covered hills. Kids will LOVE this park!

Unique Features at Central Park

Can I just say SLIDES?! There are so many different types of slides at Central Park in Denver! There is the huge play structure with tall covered slides, a roller bar slide, cement rock slide, toddler slide and more.

Do you see the circle in the floor pictured below? It’s a trampoline!

And how could I forget to mention, there’s a zipline too!

Surrounding Area Highlights

If you catch Central Park on a clear day, the mountain views are gorgeous! Seen in the distance is the old airport tower and there are grass fields in all directions around the playground. Also to be found at Central Park in Denver are a long walking path around the perimeter, soccer fields, incline steps and many benches along the way.
