Painted Prairie brings Swiss Family Robinson to Life!

Did you grow up watching Swiss Family Robinson? I did! Your childhood treehouse dreams will come to life at High Prairie Park in Aurora’s new Painted Prairie neighborhood. With the gorgeous view of the mountains and airplanes overhead, you’ll be transported to another land that your kiddos will love!

Bathroom: Unfortunately no, unless you count the portables out for the home builders. This is a completely new neighborhood and the areas all around the playground are still mud. My guess is there is more to come, but for now, plan ahead. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Shade: Only a little. You will find at least one shaded table near each playground spot and the treehouses are nice inside. Don’t forget to bring water and sunscreen along with you!

Age Recommendations: 5+ is my opinion. The playground is quite a walk from the parking lot and there are rope nets that are too big for little ones.

Painted Prairie Unique Features

We counted 8 different parts to the High Prairie Park, each a small walk from the one before:

  1. Double horizontal net (high drop for little ones)
  2. Tree house playground
  3. Ropes course / Half court basketball
  4. Small log structure (looks like giant firewood)
  5. Chairlift swings / Sand with beach chairs
  6. Nature play area with steep concrete slides
  7. Large Pavilions with grills, tables and cornhole platforms
  8. Garden labyrinth path and more cornhole platforms

The Painted Prairie neighborhood is creating a destination park. I’m looking forward to visiting again once all of the landscaping is complete!

Keep following the path around to find each of the playground locations. We love the three connected treehouse structures and, maybe more for my older girls, the rope course shown below!

There is some work being done near the nature play area but it still is fun to see! Heads up, these concrete slides are fast!

Surrounding Area Highlights

High Prairie Park isn’t on many maps yet so look for the Painted Prairie signs as you get close. The mountain views are nice, especially from the swinging chairlift seats, and you can see the Gaylord Rockies resort to the north. This is a great spot to go before you pick up a friend from the airport!

Let us know in the comments below about your visit or if you have any questions! As I shared above, this park is in early stages and we can’t wait to go back when it is fully finished.

Thanks for joining us at Slides & Sunshine! Now itโ€™s time to get out there and PLAY!

Donโ€™t forget to Pin for later!
