Paul Derda Playground brings Colorado fun!

In true Colorado fashion, it was 75 degrees yesterday and a snowy 20 degrees today so we decided to try out the Paul Derda playground! The play area is inside the Recreation Center making it a perfect spot to meet friends on cold (or very hot) days.

Paul Derda Playground Unique Features

The play area is captivating with its attention to the details of Colorado. My daughter loved all of the animals, especially the bears, and the murals covering each wall. The slide made noise and the play structure had a lookout through a bear’s mouth – yikes!

The only feature that we didn’t enjoy was the climbing wall. If you look closely at the picture above, there is a huge gap between holds right above her feet. This void made it almost impossible to get started or to go higher than that!

My daughter spent the most time climbing up and sliding off this Longs Peak replica. It was exciting when we spotted the real Longs Peak on our drive home!

Love the Paul Derda playground? You will also love the Colorado themed indoor play area at the APEX Recreation Center and the dinosaur gulch at the Cherry Creek mall!

Where do you take your children when it gets cold outside? Add a comment below, we’d love to hear from you and go there too!
