The Ultimate Playground in Denver!

We have a more recent review! Head to https://slidesandsunshine.com/paco-sanchez-park-denver/ for the latest, including Phase 2 additions!

I have been waiting for the perfect time to visit “Re-Imagine Play” at Paco Sanchez park in Denver, Colorado and yesterday was the day! Just minutes from downtown, extremely close to Mile High Stadium, this is an incredible playground (and best news ever, they’re building it out even more!) Thank you to Denver Parks and Recreation, PCL Construction and Landscape Structures for creating this completely unique place for all to enjoy!

Address: 1290 Knox Ct, Denver, CO 80204

Bathroom/Shade: There were at least two portable bathrooms that we spotted but no bathroom building or drinking fountain. The park is surrounded by huge trees so finding a spot to have our snacks was easy and the girls loved that they could get out of the sun by going in the play structure or under the long bridge.

Age Recommendations: All! This playground is going to be fun for little ones but also is a great one for the 10+ ages as well. There is a toddler area with balance beams (logs), sandbox and short gymnastic bars (although these were too hot to touch mid-day). The older children will love the challenge inside the main structure!

Word of caution, it can be easy to lose sight of your kiddos since they can enter and exit the giant play structure from multiple sides and heights. You’ll either get to spend time inside there too 😉 or make sure that they know which side you’re on for when they come out.

Unique Features: When researching this park, we discovered that it was made in honor of Radio Broadcaster and Colorado House Representative, Paco Sanchez. To pay tribute, many of the park’s elements were created with radio and music in mind. The most extraordinary would definitely be the giant 1950’s inspired microphone dominating the middle of the playground.

Inside of the microphone is an incredible maze of ropes, with climbing and balancing features galore! The girls absolutely loved the challenge of climbing different ways to the top, eventually getting to the “Bird’s Nest” (see top picture to see my youngest peeking down) or to the entrance of the spiral slide inside.

Another unique feature that we haven’t seen anywhere else was this bouncing rope seesaw!

The girls and I loved exploring the park and identifying additional elements bringing the Radio Music theme to life. Some favorites were the microphone cord, speaker climbing wall, sound wave rope nets and musical chimes!

There was a lot of construction going on south of the playground and we were ecstatic discovering it was for Phase 2! Guess we’ll be planning an update to this post next summer!

What a creative and fun way to pay tribute to Denver’s history. Have you been to this ultimate playground? Did you know it was a giant vintage microphone? I thought it was some sort of beehive when I was looking at the pictures!
