Trailside Park: A Playground with Motion, STEM and Inclusive Fun!

Westminster Parks and Recreation has updated the playground at Trailside Park and it is fantastic! There was consideration to make it inclusive of all ages and abilities with its easy-to-maneuver rubber surfacing, sensory panels, low entry seesaw and even the motion game is accessible to all. Trailside Park Logistics

Address: Dover St and W 86th Cir, Westminster CO 80005

Bathroom: No, there is no restroom available at Trailside Park.

Shade: Most of the playground is uncovered, however, you can take a break under the picnic table pavilion.

Surface: The entire playground is covered with rubber pour-in-place surfacing.

Age Recommendations: Since the slides aren’t very high off the ground and there are not more adventurous elements, I would recommend this for ages 2 to 8, maybe 10.

Inclusive Features: This is a great inclusive playground! The rubber surface makes it easy for kids of all abilities and wheelchairs to move around. There are also many sensory panels, musical instruments, four person see-saw with open and middle seating, and a chair swing.

Looking for another amazing park nearby? Check out the Arvada Volunteer Firefighters Park! True to theme, everything is red and white and there are alarm bells, ladders, exit pole and so much more!

Swings: There are only two swings at Trailside Park, one baby swing and one chair swing.

Water Features: None.

Unique Features of Trailside Park

Let’s talk about STEM! Put Newton’s Laws of motion into action at this playground. Using the StemPlay panel, “observe Newton’s first, second and third laws by using your own force to move the marbles”. Kids will see what happens as marbles are flung, bounced, and launched!

Probably the favorite feature at Trailside Park in Westminster was this “MOVMNT” activity. MOVMNT is “an electronic game that is powered by people” and is inclusive as it provides fun and exercise for all ages, all abilities, and allows for wheelchair access. You can use hands or feet, one player or two, and try to improve your score each time!

Surrounding Area Highlights

There is a small creek running along the path so be careful of your little ones. If you’re looking for additional fun just a short walk away, follow the path to the east to Nottingham Park!
