Addenbrooke Park is Perfect for Play, Fitness and Scenery!

I felt instantly peaceful when we arrived at Addenbrooke Park! You see the lake and trees before you spot the playground and, even with the winter leaf-less trees, it was beautiful. Grab your family, take along a picnic (watch for the geese), and everyone will find something they enjoy!

Bathroom: Seasonal large restroom building can be found near the baseball fields and there were also portables available.

Shade: Some. Depending on the time of day, there are large trees that provide shade near the playground. There are a few large pavilions as well to sit and enjoy the lake views.

Surface: Wood chips.

Age Recommendations: I struggle a bit with this answer. There is equipment for ages 2 to 5 but it connects to the older kid equipment through a fun tunnel. So, it is very likely your toddler will end up on the higher equipment. There is also a large lake nearby to be aware of if your littles like to wander. If you do go with your little ones, I’m sure they’ll love it, you just might need to keep a closer eye. 😉

Inclusive Features: Addenbrooke Park does not offer much as far as inclusivity. There is no rubber surfacing or ramp accessible equipment.

Swings: There are only the two disc swings shown below. My kids love to swing together on these!

Water Features: None.

Unique Features of Addenbrooke Park

Map of Addenbrooke Park

Addenbrooke Park is huge with a beautiful lake, multiple walking path options and would be the perfect place to take the family for a fun afternoon. Take along your frisbee (or a kite with all of our recent wind!) and a picnic!

I love when parks incorporate art and history into the area and Addenbrooke Park has both! Named after the Addenbrooke family that owned the land, the park includes the above plaque to learn more about their history and impact on the local area. Still standing at the park are their stone fireplace, stone columns and 1940’s windmill.

Addenbrooke Park Fitness Court

Did I mention there’s a large fitness court too?! Located apart from the playground is this area where you can challenge yourself in new ways. From box jumps to pull ups to a whole lot more, you can enjoy the outdoors and peaceful area while getting in your exercise.
