Blue Heron Park Delights with its Lake Views and New Playgrounds!

Have you heard of Blue Heron Park? I hadn’t!

We have readers from across Colorado so I’ve been researching new playgrounds in cities far from my own. In the process, I had the pleasure of speaking with someone from Foothills Parks and Recreation District a few months ago. She alerted me to two playgrounds updated in 2019 at Christensen Meadows Park and Blue Heron Park.

So, what were we to do? Go visit both of course!

Blue Heron Park Logistics

Address: 5518 S. Quail St., Littleton, CO 80127

Bathroom: Unfortunately, none available near the playground that we could find. The nearest option is a gas station a couple of blocks away.

Shade: The scenery here is beautiful!! Full trees tower between the playground and Beers Sisters Lake providing shade while the kids play and there is also a shaded pavilion with four picnic tables.

Age Recommendations: This is a great playground when you have a wide range of ages! The equipment is made for ages 2 to 12 and includes one baby swing and 2 chair swings.

  • For the very small, be mindful that there is the reservoir just down from the playground.

Blue Heron Park Unique Features

Blue Heron Park is split into two play areas making it great for our family! The upper playground is built for ages 5+ with monkey bars, tall slides, merry go round and climbing wall. A smaller slide, clubhouse and bouncing duck will be found at the lower playground for ages 2-5.

Sensory games are another great feature of Blue Heron Park!

Surrounding Area Highlights: The Beers Sisters Reservoir provides a gorgeous setting while you play. Fishing is available and a 0.67 mile walking path surrounds the lake.
