Grey Hawk Park: Feathers, Slides, and Scavenger Hunt in Colorado Springs

Grey Hawk Park is the newest bright spot in northern Colorado Springs with its fresh, open playground where kids can climb, slide, balance, and explore from every angle. With turf that’s perfect for running games, natural elements like oversized wooden feathers, and play structures designed for both toddlers and big kids, this neighborhood park packs in plenty of adventure. Add in a scavenger hunt, a nearby basketball court, and wide‑open views, and you’ve got an easy family outing that encourages everyone to get moving and play under the Colorado sunshine.

The Colorado Playground Coloring Book brings 25 real Colorado playgrounds to life with whimsical illustrations kids can color, explore, and make their own. With bonus activities like word searches, Mad Libs, and a park bucket list, it turns screen‑free time into an adventure. It’s a perfect gift for little explorers who love sunshine, slides, and discovering new places to play.

Address: Spectrum Loop, Colorado Springs, CO 80921 (Grey Hawk Park is featured on Google Maps, but not yet on Apple Maps. If using Apple, the playground is located at the eastern intersection of Spectrum Loop and Diamond Rim Dr.)

Bathroom: Not available at the time of our visit.

Shade: Most of the playground is uncovered and could get hot in the summertime. There is a covered table though for snack breaks!

Surface: We loved that the majority of the play area was covered with turf, making for fun games running around the play elements. There are some wood chips under the swings and large cone spinner.

Scavenger Hunt!

If you haven’t seen this feature before, it will now be your favorite part! The “Nature Hunt” sign shows the items to find and they are installed all over the play structures. If you look close, you can see the red beetle hiding in the second photo.

Age Recommendations: There is equipment for ages 2 to 5 and 5 to 12, making it a great stop for the family. Add to their entertainment with obstacle course challenges and scavenger hunt timers!

Inclusive Features: There are not a lot of “inclusive features”, however, the turf is a nice change from the wood chips across most parks. I also noticed the slide (shown in the Unique Features below) that provides a “slide-a-side” where space is given for kids that need a little extra time or support to exit a slide.

Swings: You will find 2 baby swings, 2 traditional belt swings, and one rope disc swing.

Water Features: None.

Unique Features of Grey Hawk Park

There is so much fun to be had at this playground! With structures for each age group, a variety of slides, ropes to climb over and across, and even a scavenger hunt, your kids will not want to leave.

We love the natural elements at Grey Hawk Park! Keeping the neighborhood name in mind, there are large wooden feathers to climb and a logs to maneuver across.

Surrounding Area Highlights

Next to the playground is a small basketball court so don’t forget to take along your basketball and running shoes! This is a newly developed area so there is sure to be more to talk about nearby soon.

Make it a whole family adventure with some tickets to a show at Ford Amphitheater! Just minutes away from Grey Hawk Park, you will enjoy incredible mountain views as you enjoy concerts, comedians, and more!
