When was your last trip to the Library?

When I was thinking about this website, my main focus was on sharing all of the amazing playgrounds available to us, but then we had a bunch of rainy (and snowy!) days in Colorado this May… So I began to think about what I’d recommend when weather doesn’t go your way. I asked on Facebook about favorite places to go with kids on rainy days and almost all of them cost money, and pretty significant money when I started to calculate totals for myself and three kids… So, for my first idea to share with each of you, we’re going with FREE!

One of our favorite places to go is actually a nearby library! It isn’t an all day event, but it’s a great way to spend some time, stay out of the rain (or cool down when it gets too hot) and we all can find something to do. I have never seen any of the libraries in our area be too busy, unless you go on the first day to sign up for the summer reading program. 😉

In a small area of the library, the girls and I are all able to do our own thing and enjoy it! I’m able to find a chair to read in or take my laptop to write. My oldest loves to find a new book and start reading instantly. My eight year old absolutely loves having stories read to her on the computers and my four year old does it all! There is usually a reading nook, toys/train table, computer games, puzzles, board games, so much more than just books.

If you’re going during the summer, make sure you check out your local library’s summer reading program! There are also events year round, storytelling times and more.

When was the last time you checked out the town library?
