Bonus Playground when You Visit this Arvada Park!

If you’re looking for a great Arvada park, especially on a weekend, check out Michael Northey Park. The reason I say the weekend (or really any non-school hour) is because the school playground right next to it is amazing too! Keep reading to see why these two playgrounds make for a fantastic family outing…

Unique Features

Bright colors and the tall slide structure immediately catch your eye as you pull up to the park. The favorite and most unique features would be the stacked 3-pointed stars. They remind me of the game of Jacks!

This Arvada park was named after W. Michael Northey, a fallen police officer (Feb 20, 1978 – Aug 13, 1979). In addition to this tribute, local students are also able to apply for a scholarship in his name through the W. Michael Northey Foundation.

Excel Academy

Now, about that “bonus playground”… Adjacent to Michael Northey Park is Excel Academy and it has a fantastic, recently updated playground! Split into two sections, you’ll find everything from the traditional slides and monkey bars to a giant rope pyramid and obstacles courses galore.

Surrounding Highlights

Looking for more activities while you’re there? You will find a baseball field, tennis courts, soccer fields, and basketball courts!

Thanks for joining us at Slides & Sunshine! Now it’s time to get out there and PLAY!

Don’t forget to Pin for later!
