Enjoy New Adventures at this Playground in Thornton!

We have found another fabulous playground in Thornton, this time at the Riverwalk Ball Fields and Batting Cages! As a 2019 Starburst Award recipient, the entire park boasts lighted baseball and softball fields, large pavilion, batting cages and new playground.

Riverwalk Playground Logistics

Address: 9830 Riverdale Rd, Thornton, CO 80229

Bathroom: Yes! There is a very nice bathroom facility available.

Shade: There are a couple canopies providing shade over the play structure, however, the slides are uncovered and can get hot. You will also find a very large pavilion with picnic tables, great for a break or picnic lunch!

Are your kids baseball fans? Don’t miss Northern Lights Park and the playground at the Thornton Sports Complex as well!

Age Recommendations: 2 to 12. This is a fantastic playground for a wide range of ages! There are elements designed for younger children and ones that will challenge your older children as well. You will find accessible chair swings instead of the traditional baby swings and this “alien home” for imaginative fun!

Unique Features of Riverwalk Playground

The most unique feature of Riverwalk playground in Thornton is the Disc Net Climber. I love watching the kids climb up through the disc holes (or if they’re a bit older, they’ll climb on the outside like my daughter 😉 ).

Another unique feature that made this an instant favorite with my girls, a scavenger hunt! As you can see from the picture below, there are six animal tracks hidden in the playground to find. I love those kinds of extra details!

Lastly, there are many nature-inspired elements at Riverwalk Park. Wooden ladders, logs and toadstools, and a wobbly ‘surfboard’ leaf that gives us all a bit of a challenge.

Surrounding Area Highlights

There are many ballfields and batting cages to be enjoyed at Riverwalk Park. We wished we had brought along some bats and helmets! Next time we’ll come a bit more prepared!
